NOMINEE APPLICATION Section 4.6 APPLICATION FOR BOARD OF TRUSTEES OR ALTERNATE TRUSTEE OF CO-DEPENDENTS ANONYMOUS, INC. DATE: 8-11-2020 NAME: Gail S VOTING ENTITY: Nevada TRUSTEE [XXX] ALTERNATE [] ADDRESS: To be provided directly to Board/FinanceCITY: Las Vegas STATE: NV ZIP CODE: COUNTRY: USA TELEPHONE NUMBERS: (C) To be provided directly to Board/FinanceEMAIL ADDRESS: Have you ever served on the CoDA Board? YES [X] NO [XX] as Alternate. When: voted in CSC 2019Please circle any officer positions held: - IMC Chair and outgoing member.DIRECTIONS: Answer each item below as fully as possible on separate paper. Please type or word-process for legibility. Do not attach a resume. 1) Describe your current working knowledge of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, and the CoDA foundational documents, such as the Fellowship Services Manual, By-laws, etc. Prior to attending CSC for my first time as a delegate 6 years ago, I had experience of working the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions. I did not encounter the FSM, By-laws or any other documents until I was introduced to them as a first year delegate. That year, I applied and was elected to Issues Mediation Committee (IMC). I had heard to apply to the committee that most scared me, IMC was it. As a member of IMC for 6 years, and as the IMC chair for 3 years, I have had more than enough opportunities to refer to the FSM and other world level documents. Even when I think I know what they say, I still refer to them on a regular basis.2) Why do you want to serve the Fellowship as a member of the Board of Trustees? Joining IMC was one of the scariest things I have ever done. And yet, my recovery was propelled to a whole different level. I trust my Higher Power. 2019 CSC I applied as a board alternate and was voted in. Being a Board Alternate this past year allowed me to “get my feet wet” before “diving in”. Plus, I wanted to complete my time in IMC as past Chair to assist the new Chair and Vice Chair in their transition.3) Describe your service work on Meeting, Intergroup, Voting Entity level, including number of years of service. Home Group: I started with my Home group on 5-8-2007. Since the pandemic, our Intergroup created nightly Zoom open CoDA meetings. My home group has not yet returned to the physical room. I have held the positions of facilitator, treasurer, literature and GSR. I currently serve as alternate GSR and rotating meeting facilitator. I have facilitated and co-facilitated closed annual women’s Step/Tradition Groups, we are in our 4th annual Step Study group. Intergroup: Las Vegas Intergroup began with a core group of members, I was one of the original members, along with Lisa B, at least 11 years ago. My past positions were Chair, and Secretary. I currently rotate as Intergroup meeting facilitator. I have been involved with the Las Vegas CoDA Conferences, including speaking and doing workshops. 4) Describe any personal or professional background that you think would benefit the health of CoDA, such as experience negotiating contracts, general business management, accounting and financial skills or any other relevant skills. I have been a Realtor (Broker/Salesperson) since 1986, so I negotiate for a living. One of our many company motto’s is “win-win or no deal”. “Seek first to understand” and understanding how to best work with personality differences is one of my learned skills. 5) Share your:A) Experience with the group conscience process. This was first introduced to me when our Intergroup formed. Then a whole new level of GC was witnessed and learned through attending CSC for the first time. Then another level when I joined IMC. B) Courage to express yourself, ability to listen, and ability to communicate effectively. Experience and service within CoDA at every level has given me the courage to use my voice and words appropriately. And IMC has afforded me many an opportunity to practice this. C) Ability to manage interpersonal differences and accomplish goals as a group member. Lots of practice in our intergroup, and IMC. I was a “board” member in my real estate office for 5 years. I was also a board member with my previous homeowners association.6) The job of Trustee has varying time demands. What is your availability? Self employed in my real estate business since 1986. I have some flexibility with my availability. I work from home, which makes it easier for me to manage business and personal life. 7) Please share your vision for CoDA. Simple, to reach the still suffering codependents out there that wish to experience healthy and loving relationships in their lives. And to serve the existing fellowship as best as I possibly can, while practicing my own personal recovery in every area of my life to the best of my ability. 8) Please add any additional information you feel may be helpful in the selection process. After serving as a board alternate for the past year, I am more clear of the responsibilities and time demands of board members. NOTES: Please email your application to Events@ and webliaison@, and/or Send to PO BOX 33577 Phoenix, AZ 85067-3577.
