INTRODUCTION AND EXPLANATION OF POLICIES

Due to conditions beyond the control of the County, including but not limited to hurricanes, windstorms, and tornados, if the County is under a declared emergency and the County Administrator directs County agencies to cease normal business operations, employees shall be compensated following the processes below.

? A declared disaster time period starts and ends based on the County Administrator directive. ? Benefit-Eligible employees are to be "kept whole" for all scheduled days which fall within the Declared

Emergency time period. ? Remove all previously approved paid leave which occurs during the Declared Emergency, and replace with

either the DSP ? Off pay code if employee is told to stay home, or the employee should punch in if directed to report to work. ? Benefit-eligible hourly employees are paid double time for all hours worked during the Declared Emergency in lieu of all other compensation, including shift differential. ? Benefit-eligible salaried employees shall be compensated at 1.25 the straight time rate of pay for each hour worked during the Declared Emergency. ? Benefit-eligible salaried employees shall be compensated at 1.50 the straight time rate of pay for hours beyond their normal scheduled hours, ONLY if specifically approved by the County Administrator, for significant assignments resulting from post-emergency recovery efforts. ? If an employee is assigned to the EOC or any other designated shelter during a declared emergency when it is under lockdown, are unable to leave and subject to responding to emergencies even during rest periods, the employee would be compensated.

HOURLY (NON-EXEMPT) EMPLOYEES 1) Benefit-Eligible 2) Blue Collar, White Collar, GSA Supervisory, GSA Professional, Unrepresented, Port Supervisory, Port Non-Supervisory, Port Maintenance and all ATU employees. 3) Eligible for overtime compensation (Non-Exempt)

Directed to Report to Work During Declared Emergency ? Directed or assigned as a result of volunteering, by his/her supervisor to work during the declared emergency ? The employee is to punch in and punch out of Kronos, if possible. ? If employees are unable to clock in and out, the supervisor will need to enter in and out punches for time worked during the declared emergency. ? For each day worked during the declared emergency, a work rule transfer code should be entered between the punches, appropriate to the employee's respective collective bargaining agreement. ? Kronos will automatically give the employee double time for the hours worked.

Follow Steps Below: 1. Click on the drop down arrow in the Transfer column between the in and out punches of the time card. (If the employee was unable to punch, the supervisor should first enter the in/out punches)
