Parent Training – Miss Moore (Title I) The first Oakridge Elementary Title I Parent Training and Expo was a success. Many teachers received excellent feedback from parents. It was suggested to add the Parent Training to the agenda for Leadership meetings in the future so Team Leaders to work on preparing for the Expo (creating flyers, brainstorming ideas, etc.). Harvest Drive – We have received an overwhelming response of food being donated for the Harvest Drive. The families will be receiving plentiful boxes this season with more than enough food and supplies. Feathers for a Feast Fundraiser is collecting money to put towards the purchase of turkeys for the Harvest Drive baskets. We have collected approximately $90 so far. Left over funds from the Feathers for a Feast will be rolled over for the 2016-2017 school year to be utilized to purchase turkeys. Teacher Appreciation WeekT-shirt Fundraiser – Postponed until January. There are many activities going on and we are looking for a staff member to spearhead this fundraiser. New Business:Infrastructure Preparation for BAFS TestingWe participated in a district-wide infrastructure test. We encountered a few obstacles: the Single Sign-On (SSO) was down until about 9:30 and we had a handful of students that were not able to log in using their assigned login and password. Giving Tree for December HolidaysThe same families as the Harvest Drive will be selected as recipients for the Giving Tree. The purpose of the plan is to encourage families to send their child/ren to school each and every day. We have an above average amount of students with attendance concerns, primarily in the lower grades. Some ideas shared are:Power-point presentation for parents to be shown at family events (Kindergarten Roundup, Open House)Display district provided banners to encourage students to be at school on time every day.Motivational advertisements from the guidance counselor and social worker promoting attendance that will be included monthly in a Parent Link Phone Call.Support group for children with chronic tardiness to work on planning and organization skills.Offer support to chronically tardy students by providing the opportunity to be an Oakridge Owl Helper.Prizes available (i.e. lanyards) for students that are showing attendance improvements.Teachers will call parents after the second day of absenteeism to inquire about the absence and encourage a speedy return to school.CPST will invite parents to meetings to discuss absenteeism and discuss ways to change improve the situation. District provided certificates for students with 100% attendance for the first 100 days of school and then 100% attendance for the last 80 days.We will continue our “Today is the Day” campaign with the hope of reducing tardiness.
