NATHANIEL R. AND VALERIE DUMONT

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Nathaniel R. and Valerie Dumont Scholarship was established through a bequest in 1993 to assist students with financial needs, especially those with visual or physical impairments.

Each of the following campuses may nominate two to three students for a $4,500 Dumont scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year. (There will be seven scholarships awarded in total.)

California State University, Los Angeles California State University, Northridge

← Strong consideration should be given to students who are visually impaired, followed in priority by students with other physical impairments. Students without visual or physical impairments are also eligible for this scholarship.

← Applicants must be in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.

← Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the campus Financial Aid Office.

← Applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time equivalent undergraduate student in any major field at the eligible CSU campuses and must remain a full-time equivalent CSU student during the 2015-2016 academic year.

← Visually or physically impaired applicants must provide verification from a licensed physician or the Disabled Student Services office.

Applications are available through the campus Financial Aid Office.

Financial Aid Offices should provide information about the availability of this scholarship to the Disabled Student Services Office.

Completed applications submitted by the campus Financial Aid Office to the CSU Foundation include the following:

• Scholarship Applicant Information form

• Calculation of Unmet Financial Need (completed by Financial Aid)

• Calculation of Grade Point Average (completed by Financial Aid)

• A brief Personal Statement describing their background, challenges they have encountered, personal achievements, educational pursuits and goals and aspirations for the future

• Verification of physical/visual impairment, if applicable

• Thank you note - Prior to fund distribution, the selected scholarship recipients are required to provide a letter addressed to: Administrator, Nathaniel R. and Valerie Dumont Scholarship Fund, offering thanks for the award and including information about challenges that he/she has faced, academic progress, and future plans

• A completed Application Checklist

Applications for the 2015-2016 academic year are due May 4, 2015
