On 3 November 2009 the Montreal Protocol will hold a workshop for international government delegations to discuss quarantine and pre-shipment (QPS) uses of methyl bromide. The location will be Port Ghalib, Egypt. The workshop will include information about alternative techniques that could avoid the use of methyl bromide for quarantine and pre-shipment treatments, as well as fumigant recovery-recycling-destruction technologies. The QPS workshop will be followed by the 21st Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on 4-8 November.

Display of QPS alternatives, 3 - 8 November 2009

On 3 - 8 November there will be a display about alternatives for quarantine and pre-shipment uses of methyl bromide, and fumigant recovery-recycling-destruction technologies. The display will show information materials about methyl bromide alternatives; this means information about relevant equipment, products, techniques and services. We hope that some actual equipment and products will also be exhibited.

Companies are invited to send information materials or products for display, or to come in person to Port Ghalib:

1) If you cannot come in person, please send information materials about alternative products, services or equipment for the QPS uses of methyl bromide. We will set up a display of your information materials if you cannot come.

2) If you can come in person, please bring information materials (as described above) to set up your own display. If possible, bring a laptop to show photos of your products and how they are used in practice, and bring models or examples of your products and equipment to show participants.

Companies will not be charged a fee for display space. But companies will be expected to pay their own costs for sending information or products for display.

Tell us if you plan to provide information for display
