A huge thank you to our community for all of your support of local businesses and nonprofits this past year. We at the Evergreen Chamber are blessed to have been a part of a community that has grown economically and has so many residents that have celebrated success throughout 2018. We thank our merchants, restaurants and services for their business, we thank our locals for their support of all three.

The Evergreen Chamber is honored to end this wonderful year with the largest family friendly New Year's Eve celebration in the mountain area, Skate the Lake New Year's Eve Festival. We are also thrilled to be able to donate a portion of the net proceeds back to four different nonprofits: Drive Smart, Active4All Park and Rec Foundation, EAPL and the EChO Foodbank. For the community by the community led by the Chamber. As the saying goes it is better to give than receive and we could not have asked for a better holiday gift to give our local community. We hope you will join us.

Saturday December 1st was the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards and Holiday Gala event held at The Wild Game. Many local businesses were nominated for our Business of the Year awards and the choice was tough. The selection process included online nominations, online voting, interviews and thoughtful answers submitted to our weighted deliberation process. There were 24 total businesses nominated-some for multiple honors.

Our auction this year raised over $15,000 and we could not have been as successful as we were without the donations from many local businesses. The evening rounded out with the ever popular $1000 Cash Raffle sponsored by Colorado Serenity Magazine. Proceeds from the raffle go to support the four annual Evergreen Chamber college scholarships awarded in the spring.

Evergreen is truly an amazing community and the support that businesses and residents offer each other is unmatched. 2019 will be an exciting year for the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce as we increase our efforts on promoting our local economy.

Q. What services does Echo Mountain Resort provide for clients?

Our primary offering is skiing, snowboarding, and new this season- Tubing! Our Rental Shop offers all the equipment and clothing you need on the mountain. We also have a wonderful lodge to relax in on comfy couches next to the fireplace with excellent views of friends and family while they ski. We also have a delicious, made-to-order restaurant and bar, Brothers' Grille, overlooking the divide.

Q. Who is your ideal customer?

We attract and appeal to a variety of customers from beginners and families looking to learn or grow their ski and snowboard skills to intermediate and advanced skiers and riders looking to get some runs in without the hassle and expense of other resorts further away from the front range.

Q. What is new with Echo Mountain Resort ?

We are growing! We've added a tubing hill for the 2018-2019 season and expanded our beginner terrain offering. We recognize the need to offer more space for beginners to learn so while there's a limit to what we can do with what Mother Nature made for us, we're doing what we can to add more for that particular demographic. In addition, we're working to offer events and weddings starting summer 2019, as well as, potentially keeping the restaurant and bar open year round.

Q. What other categories of Evergreen Chamber businesses would be great partners for you?

There are a lot of businesses we'd love to partner with. Lodging as options for our guests that are looking for a place to stay, activities and recreation for folks looking for numerous activities to do while in the area, restaurants and bars to send folks to after they're done here and want to check out something else in the area.

Xcel Energy aims for zero- carbon electricity by 2050

Xcel Energy, a national leader in renewable energy, rolled out a clean energy vision today in Denver that will deliver 100 percent carbon-free electricity to customers by 2050. As part of this vision, the company also announced plans to reduce carbon emissions 80 percent by 2030, from 2005 levels in the eight states it serves. The new goals are the most ambitious announced to date within the electric power industry.

Colorado delays new online sales tax enforcement at least until May 31

"The Colorado Department of Revenue announced Thursday it is delaying enforcement on its controversial changes to the state's sales tax collection rules from March 31 until at least May 31. Officials hope the added months will give more retailers time to voluntarily comply with the drastically different system and give the the Colorado General Assembly more opportunity to weigh in when the new session convenes in January." - RJ Sangosti, The Denver Post

Hammer Enterprises Food & Toy Drive

Hammer Enterprises was the local Jefferson County Location for dropping off donation for the `Toys for Tots" drive. They housed the donation boxes through out the month of December while the event was active, and also collected goods for a food drive. Thank you Hammer Enterprises for helping to insure every child gets a little bit of Christmas, and helping to support our community.
