Lesson Description

STUDENT OBJECTIVES

Students will work in groups of three to four using Belinda’s Petition to answer questions about Belinda.

 

PROCEDURES: SESSION 1

|1. |The teacher will introduce the lesson to students. She will explain that using the petition, students will answer questions about |

| |Belinda. |

| |Students will quickly read the petition on pages 20 to 22 of the book. |

|2. | Students will be separated into groups of three or four. Each group will be given a question sheet. |

|3. |All students will have a copy of the book. Using the pages indicated (20 to 22) students will answer questions about Belinda’s life. |

| |All question sheets and answers will be collected by the teacher. |

EXTENSIONS / MODIFICATIONS

The reading assignment could be shortened to aid those who need accommodations. Instead answering all questions, students can only answer certain questions.

Students will be assessed on understanding of Belinda’s life by answering questions and participating in discussion of Belinda’s Petition.
