Living on your own prepares students to live INDEPENDENTLY. Emphasis is on financial literacy and consumerism, empowering students to learn how to manage their money and live within their means. Students will investigate how financial life choices will affect their future. The student will create a Personal Finance Portfolio which will include units on the psychology of money and goal setting, employment income and budgeting, saving and investing, acquiring transportation, clothing care and maintenance, renting and furnishing their first apartment or moving into a college dorm, and career exploration.

Failure to comply with the classroom guidelines will result in the following process: Verbal Warning, Detention, Call to home, and finally an Office Visit. ** Based on level of misbehavior, may go directly to office.

Every assignment is based upon total points. I post grades frequently and it is your responsibility to keep track of your progress. We will have multiple assignments working towards your final grade. These include group and independent work, written work, projects, quizzes, and a final exam. When you check your grade and see a problem or notice you are not reaching your full potential, SEE ME A.S.A.P. so we can correct it!
This semester, you will receive a grade based on total points for assignments, tests, quizzes, projects, and labs assigned in class. I post grades frequently on Pinnacle, if you see a problem let me know A.S.A.P. so we can work together to correct it!

You will need to have an open mind to new concepts and others in the class. This class will require you to work with others (you may be in a different grade level, you may have a different opinion but you MUST get to know them and work alongside of them for this class to work for you)! You also need to be a team player in this class and be willing to learn with and from others to make this the best learning environment possible! If you are willing to follow these requirements, then this class could potentially be one of the most useful classes you ever take as you get ready to embark on your future endeavors.
