This Anti-Bullying Week, We're Making Bullying Unacceptable Now and Always!

Monday, November 9th:

Ms. Rasa will be on WTAM to talk briefly about bullying and the bullying week activities. Short music video to kick off anti-bullying week.

Tuesday, November 10th:

Teachers will do Anti-Bullying Activity lesson at some point during the day. Students will reflect on a time when they were bullied or were a bystander to bullying and make a promise to do better next time.

Thursday, November 12th:

“WEAR WHITE DAY” celebrating peace and respect towards all!

By wearing white, Tamarac Tigers will raise awareness as to the

damage done by bullying both short and long term.

Friday, November 13th:

Ms. Rasa will be on WTAM to go over the Steps to Respect Anti-Bullying Pledge. After I go over the pledge, at some point today have them pledge on the handprint!

A new banner will be created this year with our handprints! ( On the handprint, please have each student either write or draw a way that they will be helping to stop bullying once and for all. They can decorate it however they would like and have them sign it as a promise. Cut them out and put them in my mailbox so that I can hang them up on our “Tamarac Tigers Stand Strong Against Bullying” Banner. (

Wednesday, November 18th

We have a special assembly with Ronald McDonald and friends discussing bullying and teaching us all how to be Bully Busters! (PK, K, 1, and 2 at 9:15 am) and (3, 4, 5, and DHH at 10:00 am). The assembly will last about 30 to 40 minutes. (

Anti- Bullying Activity (K – 5)

A. Materials Needed:

• One of the books from the booklist below OR watch Anti-Bullying Video “Bullies Are a Pain in The Brain” on WTAM on Tuesday, November 10th at 9:45; 10:45; 11:45; 12:45; or 1:45 pm.

B. Procedure:

1. Ask students if they know what bullying is? Help them to understand that bullying is when someone does something on purpose to make you feel bad or hurts you and it’s hard to make them stop.

2. Then tell them you are going to read a book to them OR that they will be watching a short video about Bullying and they should look for bullying in the book or video.

3. After reading the book or watching the video, please have a discussion about:

a. Was there bullying?

b. Who was bullied?

c. Who was the bully?

d. What happened? (What type of bullying is there?)

e. How did the person being bullied feel?

f. How did the bully feel?

g. Were there any bystanders and what did they do?

h. What did they do in the book or video to stop the bullying?

You can reference Table 1 Activity for answers about the types of bullying and how it makes people feel, although student answers will be specific to each book or to the video.

C. Extensions and Adaptations

Have your students write or draw on handprint template provided how they will help stop bullying at Tamarac Elementary School. Have them decorate them. They will be displayed on our new Banner! (
