General Information:

Size: Up to 18-24 inches long, mails are much larger than females

Lifespan: 4-8 years

Wild Habitat: Dry forested scrublands of the Arabian Peninsula

Diet: Any insect large enough to fit in their mouth

Indigenous Habitat: Dry forested scrublands of the Arabian Peninsula extending from Saudi Arabia and Yemen. They are found at a variety of altitudes from flat coastal plains to high mountains and are adapted to harsh habitats

Home Habitat: a large metal screen type enclosure is best, adults require an enclosure that is at least 2 feet wide by two feet deep by 3 feet tall. They must have a basking spot between 95-105. Provide a wide variety of branches with varying thicknesses to allow for prober branching behavior. Animals should be housed separately after they reach sexual maturity as they are territorial.

Recommended max time for handling: 30 minutes

Temperature Range: 75o F – 90o F

Transport: put inside a cooler lined with paper towels.

Restraint: allow the chameleon to use your arm and hand as a tree, restraint will stress them

Handling: Can become used to being touched; but do NOT handle them too frequently

Interesting Facts. Male Veiled Chameleons express their social status and mood using their color while females use their color to show their reproductive status. These reptiles require UVB to regulate calcium absorption and they have eyes that can work independently and move 380 degrees around.
