Course Description: This course is designed to master Microsoft Office XP 2016 software. Students will learn and utilize introductory skills in word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), database (Access), presentation (PowerPoint) and e-mail (Outlook). Students are able to take the Microsoft Office Certification Tests in each application.
Prerequisite: Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Course Objectives: Upon completing Computer Applications, the student will be able to:
1. Utilize Microsoft Windows Operating System

2. Utilize word processing skills using Microsoft Word
a. Basic Skills
b. Editing Text
c. Formatting Text
d. Features
e. Desktop Publishing
3. Utilize spreadsheet skills using Microsoft Excel
a. Basic Skills
b. Changing the Appearance of a Worksheet
c. Organizing the Worksheet
d. Worksheet Formulas
e. Function Formulas
f. Using the Worksheet
g. Integrating Spreadsheet and Word Processing
h. Worksheet Charts
4. Utilize skills in presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint
a. Basic Skills
b. Enhancing a PowerPoint
c. Visual Elements (charts, tables, manipulating objects)
d. Delivering Presentations
e. Using the Internet in Presentation
5. Utilize database skills using Microsoft Access
a. Design and utilize a database
b. Enter data using a form
c. Perform queries
d. Generate reports
Class Assignments:
• Students will reflect on Current Events pertaining to Business.
• Students will complete review activities from prior day’s lesson.
• Students will complete lessons practicing step-by-step instruction.
• Performance assessments will be completed following each lesson.
• Students will be required to keep a portfolio of all work completed. This portfolio will be kept by the students.
• Assessments will be completed daily (Quiz and Tests using constructive response and performance event questions.)

Students are encouraged to participate in Future Business Leaders of America. This organization will enhance the student’s education through instruction and participation.
