Course Description:
The Introduction to Business course is designed for students to become literate in the basic business principles & computer applications associated in the business world today. Students will investigate how consumers interact with the business world and are made aware of the integral role that they play in today's society. The course will cover the following areas: Economics, Financial Services, Savings & Budgeting, Marketing & Advertising, Technology in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Career Planning, with a special emphasis on the Microsoft Office applications suite. The goal of the course is to give students a snapshot of a lot of topics in business, so that they may choose to focus on one or more of the above mentioned topics in later classes at St. John Vianney High School or in college.
Textbook: Introduction to Business, Glencoe, 2015 (Parents DO NOT Need to purchase this book as we allow the boys to check these books in and out of class every day)
*We will also be using supplemental handouts
Classroom Rules:

➢ Respect Vianney High School
o Take care of school property, Hardware, wires, etc
o Refrain from bringing your lunch or other food/drinks to class
Evaluation/Grading:
Students will be graded using a point-value system. Grades will be given on daily exercises, homework, projects, and tests. Tests will be a multiple choice format along with a production part.
Classroom Procedures & Responsibilities:
➢ Each day we will use the following 5 Step Procedure every day…
o Bell Ringers
o Review & Introduction of New Material
o Business Application
o Lab Work
o Closure
➢ When you are absent from class, you must meet with me your first day back to find out what you missed.
➢ Each day you come to class, make sure you have a notebook and writing utensil with you.
Technology Use Policy:

Evaluation/Grading:
Intro to Business uses the St. John Vianney High School Grading scale. Please refer to your student handbook for this scale.
Evaluation will be completed based on the following:
▪ Daily Exercises 10-20 points each
▪ Worksheets 10-50 points each
▪ Quizzes 5-20 points each
▪ Chapter Tests 100 points each
▪ Business Portfolios 200 points each
▪ Small Business Projects 10-50 points
▪ Stock Market Project 5 points per day
