Women’s Aid is the key national charity working to end violence against women and girls through co-ordinating a UK-wide network of 250 membership services working with domestic and sexual violence and national campaigns.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

The Senior Partnerships Officer (Trusts, Foundations & Statutory), is responsible for fundraising from Trusts, Foundations and the Statutory sector. The post holder will oversee a program to maximise support from these funding streams, maintaining a rolling programme of prospect research, taking responsibility for sustaining and developing existing partnerships, and developing, drafting and submitting applications to prospective funders. The post holder may also be required to assist in fundraising from major donors and corporate contacts when appropriate.

The post holder will develop and maintain both internal and external contacts and will need a thorough understanding of Women’s Aid’s work and membership.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fundraising

1. Develop and implement a strategy for maximising income from Trusts, Foundations and the statutory sector.

2. To be personally responsible for a portfolio of prospective and existing high value Trust relationships

3. Ensure that all Trust and Statutory applications and proposals are of a high quality, tailored and appropriate

4. Work closely with key internal stakeholders both to understand and be able to package their work into clear, compelling proposals

5. Research potential Trust and Statutory funders using relevant research mechanisms (e.g. internet, directories, CDs) and maintain a rolling programme of prospects.

6. Work to match funders’ aims with Women’s Aid’s Vision, Purpose and Mission, packaging up relevant areas of Women’s Aid’s work and strategy to be appealing to funders.

7. Assist with ad hoc research and input to proposals and packages for presentation to major donors and corporate contacts.

8. Support on business development for the National Training Centre, seeking and securing opportunities through new developments.

9. Assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required.

1. Information management, monitoring and evaluation

1. Establish appropriate means of monitoring and evaluating activity, and ensure that all reports to funders are delivered to meet deadlines.

2. Take responsibility for ensuring that full records of all contacts are maintained on the database and relevant reports are produced.

3. Keep up-to-date with new developments/funding opportunities.

4. Support the CEO and participate in VIP/Roundtable Stakeholder events

2. Financial

1. Ensure that expenditure is maintained within agreed budgetary constraints.

2. Ensure that all donations are quickly and correctly processed and acknowledged and that reports are available in the appropriate format.

3. Contact and Liaison

1. Provide excellent account management to partner organisations and donors. This will include trusts and foundations, statutory partners, and some major donors.

2. Develop and manage key supporter relationships, sharing information and leads as appropriate.

3. Liaise with Women’s Aid members as appropriate with regard to partnerships fundraising.

4. Work closely with other members of Women’s Aid’s Fundraising team in managing key donor accounts which span multiple fundraising disciplines, ensuring that approaches to prospects are co-ordinated effectively for the long term benefit of Women’s Aid.

5. Supervise temporary staff and volunteers as necessary.

6. Liaise where appropriate with external agencies and suppliers.

4. Quality Control

1. Take responsibility for ensuring that applications and reports are completed to the criteria and standard as specified by the funder and that they are reflective of Women’s Aid’s mission and values and conform to Women’s Aid’s branding standards.

5. Expectations

1. To travel to meetings throughout the UK, which may require overnight stays.

2. To occasionally work unsociable hour’s e.g. attending evening or weekend meetings/conferences or travel to Women’s Aid’s offices.

3. To be responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of Women’s Aid’s message within the scope of fundraising and for ensuring that all activity is undertaken in such a way as will not compromise the good name of Women’s Aid or its legal or financial liability.

4. To attend and contribute to team and departmental meetings.

5. To attend and contribute to the supervision and appraisal process.

6. To uphold and promote Women’s Aid’s policies ensuring that their intention and spirit is followed.

7. Other duties that may, from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

Person Specification

SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Terms of appointment: All appointments are subject to a probation period of 6 months with an interim probation review held at 3 months. Notice period for this post is subject to a one-month notice on either side after the probationary period.

Salary: The salary range for this post is £29,636-£33,200 + ILW (£3,332) if appropriate (On an incremental scale guided by the NJC Local authority pay scale points 35-39) + benefits. Salary is paid in arrears through bank credit by the 25th of each month. Part time staff receive pro-rata payment based on hours worked.

Working hours: The standard working hours for this post are 37 hours per week, based in Bristol; benefits include a generous bank holidays and annual leave package and contributory pension scheme.

Overtime: Women’s Aid does not operate an overtime policy.

Support and supervision: Women’s Aid has a commitment to providing regular supervision and support to staff with annual appraisals forming a key part of staff development. We have a training policy in place and encourage staff to take an active role in their career development plan.

Pension: Women’s Aid is enrolled with the People’s Pension scheme. Women’s Aid normally contributes 7% of salary and the employee contributes 3% towards the group pension scheme. Eligible staff will be automatically enrolled on the scheme when they have successfully completed the 3 month interim probationary review.

Annual Leave: Women’s Aid offers an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year rising by one day per year until 30 days annual leave per year is reached. In addition, we offer 8 days public holidays plus 2 additional days in March and August.

Other leave: Employees have contractual rights to time off for reasons of sickness, maternity and other circumstances.

Period of notice: One month after your probationary period has been completed.

Union: You have a right to membership of a trade union. Women’s Aid recognises Unison.
