Place in Organisation:This post reports to the Head of Business Support in London and works across London teams and projects.Key RelationshipsInternal:Head of Business SupportLondon DirectorHeads and Programme Managers across:Collaborative design teamNeighbourhoods and networks teamBehaviour change teamDesign TeamBusiness Development Team, BristolTrust and Foundations ManagerVolunteers External:London Boroughs / Transport for London / Other fundersProject partnersKey Responsibilities: Strategic Management of Business DevelopmentWork with Senior Leadership Team to identify and develop relationships with organisations that could lead to commissions, in particular with boroughs, who own 95% of London’s streetsProgress priorities within business development BD operational plans set for London’s four delivery teams, with support from the Senior Leadership TeamIdentify new opportunities, including tenders and grants, that would enable teams to deliver more impactful workDevelop strategies for diversifying income, including developing new ideas and opportunities for deeper relationships with Trusts and Foundations Understand key policy developments and their impact on business development opportunitiesOpportunity management Act as the point of contact to coordinate a prompt response when new opportunities arise, including others as appropriate, in line with Sustrans processesMaintain the opportunity action log, recording existing and future opportunitiesManage priorities, keeping local teams informed of progress against opportunities Manage opportunity pipeline, by maintaining opportunity database and liaising with bid leads to keep up to dateWrite engaging applications for bids and tenders that meet requirementsSupport colleagues in the development of project ideas and proposals in response to tendersLiaise with the central business development team to coordinate the completion of Business Case Assessments, bid plans, submissions, and sharing best practice in our work Coordinate input and advice for bids from different Sustrans support services, including legal, finance etcEnsure Sustrans’ proposals are competitiveCreate and support colleagues to create budgets and project plansCollate evidence from previous work to support proposalsEnsure lessons are learned from (un)successful bids, and shared across teamsCommunication and marketing:Positively contribute towards raising Sustrans’ profile.
