In accordance with the organisation’s professional standards and Code of Conduct the Agency advocates a high level of ethics and integrity by all employees.__________________________________________________________________Role of WORK UnitThe role of Business Intelligence & Analytics is to monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of the WA Police as a whole, as well as for individual organisational areas within the agency. This office is heavily involved in providing information and analyses on performance issues to Parliament, the Minister’s office, the Commissioner, and the Corporate Executive Team on a regular basis, including the Annual Report. Business Intelligence & Analytics is responsible for conducting research into areas that affect organisational performance, such as identifying patterns or trends within current statistical indicators, as well as reviewing best practices and programs in performance evaluation for law enforcement agencies internationally. Business Intelligence & Analytics is committed to providing meaningful and timely performance information to managers at all levels within the police, as well as to other relevant agencies, so as to facilitate and promote effective policy development, management information and operational planning. This is done by providing information and reports directly to internal and external clients, by providing statistical, analytical, and research support to other units within the Directorate, and by representing the agency on several state and national committees. KEY RELATIONSHIPSInternally, the position liaises regularly with managers and staff of all Directorates, Portfolios and District management.Externally the position liaises with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and other police, government, research and business organisations.Decision making roleThe incumbent has autonomy to prioritise their workload and manage their time, unless directed otherwise. The incumbent is personally responsible for determining project scope, objectives, research methods, use of statistical techniques, information product design, reporting and presentation formats. Matters that must first be referred to the Manager include changes to unit, directorate, portfolio and corporate policies, procedures and resource allocations; significant changes to project scope and management; advice to external parties on corporate issues or policies; and advice to the Commissioner’s Executive Team.___________________________________________________________________ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIESFreq%1 ANALYSIS/EVALUATION/RESEARCHScopes, designs, develops and prepares analytical information products and statistical reports.Researches, analyses and evaluates business information issues (including data, counting rules, business process logic, statistical and performance information) and local, national and international statistical and analytic developments and trends.Researches, analyses, develops and evaluates statistical, analytical and reporting procedures and policies.Utilises statistical modelling and business forecasting to understand the agency’s future demand drivers.Liaises with WAPOL personnel at all levels, stakeholders, consultants and government agencies.Documents knowledge acquired and learnings into the Divisional knowledge base.2 ADVICE/CONSULTANCYProvides an authoritative consultancy and advisory service to clients and stakeholders on business information matters, including reports, performance measures, analytic information products, survey methodology and analysis.Represents the Unit and Agency on internal and external committees, working parties and workshops.Conducts training sessions related to business information analysis and performance measurement.Assists the Manager to develop Divisional business plans to facilitate the management and implementation of projects and other desirables.3 OTHERUnderstands and complies with information security policies and procedures to ensure information holdings/systems are kept confidential and utilised accurately and reliably.
