|Job summary |Provide strategic guidance, recommendations and counsel on all areas of public affairs (PA) and public relations (PR). |

| |Act as secretariat for the APPG on Financial Education for Young People. |

| |Develop and lead a PA & PR plan, coordinating with the annual business plan, to increase the impact and awareness of Young |

| |Enterprise’s work among leading decision-makers and opinion formers. |

| |Shape Young Enterprise into an influential “thought leader” on the positive impact that skills and mindset can make on young |

| |people’s success in work and in life through enterprise and financial education. |

| |Develop strategic partnerships in line with Young Enterprise’s organisational strategy and policy asks to add gravitas and |

| |increase influence and impact. |

| |Develop and lead on organisational key messages around PA and PR internally and externally. |

| |Be responsible for the monitoring and tracking of external opportunities as well as initiating an appropriate response such as |

| |speaking engagements, consultations, inquiries, media opportunities. |

| |Ensure all aspects of media support are in place to guarantee the successful delivery of the PA & PR plan. |

|Key Responsibilities |

| |

|Build relationships with key stakeholders from across the political, education, employer and voluntary sectors, including cross-party MP and peers, think|

|tanks, central government bodies and agencies, academia and research institutes. |

|Act as secretariat to the APPG for Financial Education for Young People which requires strategic input and direction alongside providing administrative |

|support. |

|Influence external audiences on enterprise and financial education policy and identify opportunities to raise the profile of Young Enterprise and our |

|work. |

|Bring the voice of young people to central government. |

|Manage the monitoring and tracking of relevant public policy debates through policy analysis, political monitoring and attendance at external events. |

|Set up and attend high-level stakeholder meetings with leading decision-makers and opinion formers in those sectors, offering strategic support to the |

|CEO. |

| |

|Help to develop policy positions (working with the Head of Marketing and Director of Programmes and Services) based on research carried out on the work |

|of Young Enterprise and through external policy analysis and ensure internal dissemination and understanding. |

|Research, compile, write and edit reports, submissions, briefings and press releases. |

|Develop and disseminate briefings on the work of Young Enterprise and respond to consultations. |

|Provide internal strategic guidance, up-to-date key PA messages and policy lines. |

|Work closely with PR support to ensure a joined-up approach on campaigns and advocacy work. |

|Represent the organisation at external events to increase influence and impact in line with advocacy goals. |

|Build effective internal relationships to develop strong links between departments. |

|Work with the Director of Programmes and Services to design, execute and disseminate the findings of research projects that demonstrate the positive |

|impact of Young Enterprise’s work. |

|Work closely with the wider marketing team to integrate key PAPR messages into Young Enterprise’s communications. |

|Identify, develop and manage key stakeholder relationships. |

The above tasks are not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the charity and its overall objectives.

|SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE |

|Essential |Proven experience in a PA and PR role and ability to evidence the impact of previous work. |

| |Track record of developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders including MPs/peers/journalists/think |

| |tanks/civil servants/special advisers. |

| |Excellent written and oral communication skills across a range of mediums, and experience of delivery to a variety of |

| |different audiences. |

| |Experience of policy analysis and drawing up of policy positions. |

| |Self-starter with energy, drive and a positive attitude with the confidence to drive Young Enterprise’s PAPR work forward |

| |independently. |

| |Highly effective account management and project management skills. |

| |Experience in implementing change management processes and introducing new systems and procedures. |

| |Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation. |

| |Demonstrable experience of employing creative and innovative approaches to take a strategy forward and achieve targets. |

|Desirable |Knowledge of the education/youth sector and the challenges faced. |

| |Experience of working in the charity or not-for-profit sectors. |
