RESEARCH TEAM PROJECT – 20 Points Possible

RESEARCH TEAM PROJECT – 20 Points Possible

(10 Individual Points, 10 Team Points)

Student teams will participate in Research and Discussion Forums in BlackBoard for a special topic. There will be few final examination questions that will be drawn from this research information for all students.

Students may choose the topic of their choice from the following special topics. Be sure to tell the instructor the name of the group you will be joining.

|Adaptive and Assistive Technologies |Computer and Online Security |

|Copyright for Students |Emerging Technology |

The instructor will post general research questions for each topic and prepare a small group Discussion Forum in BlackBoard for team communication. The team will research the questions and post a summary for all students to access as they prepare for the Final exam.

Research Teams may begin immediately and finish when they have answered the questions effectively. The group summary should be posted by the end of class on Week 7. The instructor will monitor each team to ensure correct information is being gathered and that the summary effectively answers the research questions.

The instructor will also award points for each student’s research postings. Points will be awarded in two ways – individually and by team.

Individually, points will be awarded for the posting of topic-related information. Each posting will earn from 0-3 points based on the following scale. A maximum of 10 individual points may be earned in this manner.

• 0 points = one or two word posts, or posts that do not address the research topic

• 1 point = information about the topic only, no explanation or elaboration

• 2 points = information plus an explanation or elaboration of the information

• 3 points = information, explanation and/or elaboration, plus clearly stated and well-grounded personal opinion or enhancement of the topic, or the posing of a related question

Team points will be awarded for a group summary posting that effectively answers all the research questions for the topic.

In addition, the information gathered by each team will create a PowerPoint which they will present at the end of the semester. But make sure each student will prepare an individual PowerPoint presentation for grading purposes. An assignment sheet for the PowerPoint assignment will be available during class on Week 7.
