Work-around for non-network admin Enterprise SV Controller
Enterprise SV – 2nd Controller
• Install another copy of the Enterprise SV Service (by running the Setup.exe – CD-ROM; or by running the IW_Enterprise_SV3_v101.exe) onto the local User's PC, or a PC to which you can grant administrative rights to the user(s), that you want to run the Enterprise SV Controller. You do so by running or executing the Setup.exe (or IW_Enterprise_SV3_v101.exe) from the installation disk or web download.
Remember: The Users who will be running the Controllers will need administrative privileges to this PC.
Upon running the Setup.exe, you will be prompted to restart the PC during the installation. You do not need to restart the computer at this time. It prompts for a restart in order to place the program in Add/Remove Programs in Windows.
After you run the Setup.exe from the CD-ROM, it is also recommended at this point to go into the Control Panel of the PC to stop and disable this “Nonworking” Service. In the Services Control Panel find the Enterprise SV Service. Bring up the properties and Stop the Service and set the Service to ‘Disabled’. This Service is only installed for the Controller to have something to which it can connect. However, it is not going to be used as a “working” service. The working service is still out on the server PC.
• Now run the CNTSetup.exe from your CD-ROM to Install the Enterprise SV Controller onto the user's PC (or “Controller Setup.exe” from within the Service folder - normally, C:\Program Files\InfoRad Enterprise SV Service). Immediately after you run the Setup program, the software will prompt you with the option to connect to the Service on the local or some remote PC. Choose the Local PC.
• If the Controller has successfully connected to the Service, then it may time out after 5 attempts looking for the path to the license file and database files. Once it times out, just click OK. The Controller now needs to be redirected to through the network to the database files that exist on the Server PC that houses the "working" Enterprise SV Service. Click on the "Look In:" drop down list box located near the top, and browse through the network to the “Server” PC where the "working" Service is installed and the shared folder is contained that houses the License.irt, Services.irt, Users.irt, and a Groups.irt files. Once there, Click on anyone of the database files and Click the Open button. All database files will be pulled in when you select any one of the database files.
• The Enterprise SV Controller should now have the Receivers, Groups, and Messaging Services loaded into the local memory space. You can verify this by selecting Edit, Receivers; Edit, Groups; and Edit, Messaging Services, to make sure that you have the populated list of Receivers, Groups and Messaging Services that exist on the Server PC. Final Verification would be to select Edit, Receivers, create a New Receiver to test, and Click OK for everything. The existing Clients out in the network should reflect this new working Receiver when started.
• It is also advised that you rename the Enterprise Client.exe and the Client Setup.exe – all to “Enterprise Client.notused” and “Client Setup.notused” so that no one tries to install or run a Client from this PC. All Clients still need to be installed and run from the Server itself.
In essence, you have two installed Services. However the local Service is disabled and is used only to allow the Enterprise SV Controller to start. The remote Service (server PC) is where the active database and Service is located.
