This camp is specially designed for incoming 6th graders. Campers will get to know other rising 6th graders through ice breaker activities, become familiar with the school during school scavenger hunts, learn tips for organization and academic success, participate in locker relays and much more! Maximum Number of Campers: 15-1905009779000Boys’ & Girls’ BasketballAvailable: Week 2 - Coach Kiral & Coach Blevins Grades: Rising 6th, 7th, 8th The objective of the basketball camp is to provide campers the opportunity to improve their fundamental skills and increase their understanding of the game. The camp will stress skills such as shooting, passing, ball handling, dribbling, rebounding and man defense. This will also be a great opportunity for rising 6th graders to get to know other HiRMS students. Campers should bring: basketball shoes/socks, basketball shorts/t-shirt, snack/drink for break time.Maximum Number of Campers: 25 Maverick’s Cooking CampAvailable: Weeks 1 & 2 Grades: Rising 6th, 7th, 8th Mrs. Schott Get your aprons on and come join us for a week full of mixing, chopping, baking and learning all about FOOD! All camper chefs will enjoy a hands-on experience while learning the basic principles behind food preparation, food safety, kitchen safety, and nutrition. This camp is not recommended for students with food allergies.Maximum Number of Campers: 22Art CampAvailable: Week 3 Grades: Rising 6th, 7th, 8th Mrs. Kiral Campers will explore multiple modes of creation while learning Art fundamentals and having lots of fun! Campers will need to bring a plain white T-shirt or other garment they wish to Tye-dye on Day 2 of camp (Even an old T-shirt with minimal writing/print will be fine.). We look forward to welcoming your young artists to the Ridge this summer and don't forget to dress for a mess! ? Do you love to dance and get pumped up at sporting events? If so, then come check out?Maverick Cheer Camp! This camp will be geared towards learning arm motions, jumps, cheers, and dance routines all while getting to know fun, new people through engaging team building activities. This camp will also help rising 7th and 8th graders prepare for our Maverick Cheerleading tryouts for the 2018-2019 school year which will be held July 30th – August 1st! Let's Go Mavericks!! This camp will allow students to get a head start on scales, music and sight reading. Students should come to this camp ready to work. Maximum Number of Campers: 50 Beginning Band BasicsAvailable: Week 1 12:30pm - 3:30pm Grades: Rising 6th onlyMr. RiveroStudents that have signed up for 6th grade band will want to attend this camp. You will learn how to put your instrument together, make the correct sounds and learn your first 5 notes. This is not mandatory for all 6th grade band students but will really help you get started! Students who attend a morning camp session will need to bring a lunch to eat in the cafeteria between camp sessions.Maximum Number of Campers: 50 Gym GamesAvailable: Weeks 2 & 3 Grades: Rising 6th, 7th, 8th Mr. Tinnel Do you want to get in shape, learn about different gym games, and have some fun? During this camp we will focus on team gym games. All participants will become more physically fit, enhance their knowledge of several sports, and learn to work as a team. Some of the team games we will play include: Basketball, Battle Ball, Kickball, Wiffle Ball (if weather permits), and relay races. Have you ever been asked, but were unsure about it? If so, join us for Babysitting 101 camp! We will practice proper techniques for handling infants, toddlers, and elementary school children. We will practice diaper changing, bottle feeding, what to do in an emergency, and learn many other activities that will benefit you as a babysitter. This camp will help you accept babysitting jobs with more knowledge and confidence!
