An A/B Switch is necessary in an addressable system when a customer wants to view an off-air program and record a program at the

same time. When hooked up according to the diagram, the A/B switch is set to the A side when the customer wants to record

something and watch something else. When set to the A side, the customer needs to be changing their channels through the TV.

This allows them to record whatever channel the converter box is set to without having to view that program. The VCR should be

set to record on the appropriate input channel for that particular converter box. (3 in your area) When the customer wants to

view a channel that is being sent through the converter box, they should set the A/B switch to the B-side. This allows the

customer to view any Premium or PPV channel that they are authorized for. The TV should be set to the appropriate input channel

for the converter and they should be changing their channels through the converter box.
