TEXT: Calculus: Early Transcendentals, Seventh Edition, by James Stewart. You will also need WebAssign access for this course, which may also be purchased at the bookstore. The bookstore should have a number of copies, and there should be plenty online. (Note: this is NOT the same as Stewart’s Calculus: Single Variable that you may find floating around, so don’t get that book, as it will do you no good.)

PREREQUISITES: [3450:222 with a grade of C- or better], or Placement. You are responsible for having the appropriate prerequisite. Not having the right prerequisite may cause the withdrawal of your name from the course without refund.

CALCULATOR: The use of a calculator is NOT permitted for this course.

OFFICE HOURS To be determined, will be announced in class and posted on the course webpage. If you cannot make the posted office hours, send me an email and we can try to figure out a time to meet.

TESTS: There will be three in class exams, on dates to be announced. There will also be a comprehensive final exam on Tuesday, December 12th, from 7:45 to 9:45 AM.

HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES: Homework and quizzes will be assigned via WebAssign – see the webassign instructional page linked on the course webpage



The assigned sections and due dates will also be posted on the course webpage. This page is important, you should bookmark it and check it frequently. Do NOT use the “communicate with instructor” feature in WebAssign, I do not check those. Regular email is the best way to contact me. (Also note, there is no Springboard page for this course.)

GRADES: Each of the one-hour tests will be worth 100 points, the final 200 points, the quizzes and homeworks will be worth a total of 100 points (after rescaling if necessary). This gives a total of 600 points for the semester. Quizzes are based on all problems assigned. The final scale will be
