UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY LAW SCHOOL (Berkeley Law)
PRO BONO PROGRAM
The University of California, Berkeley School of Law has a long-standing commitment to serving the community and educating its students about the professional obligation of pro bono service. The Career Development strives to expose law students to high quality pro bono opportunities that will instill a career-long commitment to public service and pro bono work.
In order to qualify for the Berkeley Law Public Interest Public Sector Summer Fellowship program, through which students receive funding to spend their summers as public interest/public service placements, law students must complete a minimum of 25 hours of pro bono work during the academic year. To qualify, student pro bono work must be legal, attorney supervised, in the public interest, and not for credit or compensation. [If you are interested pursuing a project which might afford a student academic credit, please contact Sue Schecter, Field Placement coordinator (sschecter@law.berkeley.edu)].
If you are a legal services organization or government agency employer seeking law students to assist on a pro bono basis, please complete and return the below Pro Bono Opportunity Form to Linda Maranzana (in person this evening, or by fax to (510) 643-5370). Please contact Linda Maranzana (510-643-2675, lmaranzana@law.berkeley.edu) with any questions or if you would like to receive an electronic version of this form.
