CalVCB funding comes from restitution paid by criminal offenders through fines, orders, penalty assessments and federal funds.Our mission is to assure the rights of victims of crime by providing responsive financial compensation through a stable restitution fund. Must maintain confidentiality of all CalVCB records.Document Review (Scan):Review and index a large volume of incoming documents relating to CalVCB, such as applications, crime reports, provider bills, verification forms, and general correspondence. The review and index tasks include:Key enter information from batch header sheets or scanned documents into the scan program.Apply knowledge of CalVCB document types to index process and route scanned documents to proper user work queues.Conduct quality assurance review on scanned documents and rescan illegible documents that are indexed inaccurately. Submit approved documents in a batch for validation and completion of scan process.Incomplete Applications/Bills:Review applications/bills submitted by victims, providers, or applicants. Identify missing information and contact applicant, representative, law enforcement and/or providers by phone, fax, email, or mail to obtain necessary information or documents.Place detailed notes in the claims management database system to document steps taken to address issues and gather information.Application and Bill Intake:Review applications, bills and receipts submitted by victims of crime. Identify missing information and contact applicant, representative, law enforcement, and/or providers by phone, fax, email, or mail to obtain necessary information. Enter data into the claims management database from applications and bills, ensure applications are processed in compliance with CalVCB statutes, regulations, and policies. Identify possible duplicate applications filed, send the appropriate verification letters to facilitate processing of claims and bills, return bills to the sender and place detailed notes in the system to identify issues and attempts to gather information.Document Review Work Items: Process Document Review work items in the claims management database to ensure that all inbound correspondence is reviewed and addressed, including determining what action is needed and if the work item needs to be re-assigned for further review. Marginal Duties:Prepare weekly processing reports for review by the SSMI. Prepare other reports as needed. Prioritize workload, identify high priority items, and reconcile workload. Attend and participate in team meetings. Work with the SSM I to resolve workload issues.
