NOT REQUIRED ?GENERAL STATEMENTUnder the general supervision of the Legal Support Supervisor I, the Senior Legal Typist's (SLT) primary assignment is to the Claims Adjudication Unit. In this Unit, the Senior Legal Typist will provide les complex legal secretarial support to the Workers' Compensation Administrative Law Judges to which they are assigned and assist with preparing and serving Orders, Decisions and Awards as well as reports, completing tasks in the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS), scanning and processing incoming documents and keeping the address records up to date. The SLT will perform the following duties: % OF DUTIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS40%Reviews and evaluates scanned Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and electronically submitted legal documents; extracts detailed information, record case status from court proceedings, updates case participant information, schedules hearings, prepares and scans documents into the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS); maintains follow-up records and reviews documents to ensure completeness and proper processing order; monitors inbox and work queues for assigned tasks; update upcoming activity in the calendar. 35%Uses EAMS templates to prepare various orders, awards, decisions and other -documents including serving those documents on all parties to the proceedings. Drafts Orders or Findings & Awards based on a judge's instruction is also required. Reviews and processes legal documents including case opening documents, petitions, legal briefs, pleadings, permanent disability rating instructions and walk through documents submitted in EAMS. Ensures that legal notices and other legal forms are prepared and processed to meet legal requirements and deadlines.15%Assists parties and litigants in person, by telephone, email or fax as well as assisting other departmental units. Reviews and processes incoming mail to assigned cases in EAMS or refer it to the WCJ for action. Prepares reports and monthly statistics 5%Transcribes machine dictation from a WCJ for reports, decisions or orders.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS5%Performs other related duties as directed by the Legal Support Supervisor I or Presiding Workers’ Compensation Judge, including, but not limited to, assisting with ordering supplies or equipment, responding to Public Record Act requests, acting as a lead person to other staff and organizing or leading a team of employees working on special projects. Performs other duties as assigned to fulfill the operational needs of DIR/DWC.Performs other duties as requiredassigned. May serve as a lead person to other clerical staff.
