My name is J. Sue Fletcher. I was born in Hollister, California to Lois Frances Fletcher who later married my dad James R. Prewitt leaving me the oldest of two half siblings. I was the first in my family to go to college and the first nurse. I received my BSN from FSC in 1968. I married in 1968 and divorced in 1992. I have one child, Jeffery W. Cook (35 years). I obtained a master’s in nursing from FSC in 1971 and a doctorate in education from the University of San Francisco in 1980. My first position as a registered nurse was at Porterville State Hospital in Porterville, California. I taught in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at College of Sequoias located in Visalia, California. I taught in the Associate Degree Nursing Program and served as Assistant Division at Shasta College in Redding, California, and taught in the Associate Degree Nursing Program and served as Division Chair at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. After receiving my doctorate degree I moved to California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock, California in 1983 where I taught in the Second Step Bachelor’s in Nursing Program until 1993 at which time I moved to the Department of Physical Education and Health to coordinate the Health Concentration. I have served two three-year terms as Department Chair and was recently elected to a third three-year term.
