Stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) Handbooks

History The California Stormwater Best Management Practice Handbooks have provided excellent guidance to the stormwater community since their publication by the Stormwater Quality Task Force (SWQTF) in 1993. The SWQTF became the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA) in 2002.

In 2003 CASQA published an updated and expanded set of 4 printed BMP Handbooks: 1. Construction BMP Handbooks - Printed (2003 - now obsolete) 2. Industrial BMP Handbooks - Printed (2003 - currently available) 3. Municipal BMP Handbooks - Printed (2003 - currently available) 4. New Development and Redevelopment BMP Handbooks - Printed (2003 - currently available)

In 2009 the Construction BMP Handbooks becomes the online Construction BMP Handbooks Portal

In late 2009 CASQA posted, as a web-based Portal, an updated version the Construction BMP Handbook. This permanently replaced the 2003 Construction BMP Handbook (effective July 1, 2010). NOTE: CASQA no longer makes available and does not support the 2003 CASQA Construction BMP Handbook.

CASQA developed the new 2009 CASQA Construction BMP Handbooks Portal to complement the new State Construction General Permit (order no. 2009-009-DWQ), which took effect July 1, 2010.

Because the new 2009 version also reflects a switch from a paper-based handbook format to an interactive web portal format, CASQA is no longer commercially printing the 2009 version of the Construction Handbook.

Together with the Industrial, Municipal, and New Development Handbooks, the Construction BMP Handbook Portal reflects the current practices, standards, and significant amount of knowledge gained since the early 90s about the effectiveness of BMPs. Sediment Basin Fact Sheet

CASQA is making Fact Sheet SE-2: Sediment Basin available as a free download to help permittees comply with the California Construction General Permit (Order No. 2009-0009-DWQ). The new permit requires that sediment basins be designed according to the method provided in CASQA's Construction BMP Guidance Handbook, Fact Sheet SE-2 Sediment Basin.

Instructions: Click on the "Fact Sheet ?
