Park CenterJOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Emerging Adults Employment and Educational SpecialistReports to: Emerging Adults Program Director and the Director of Supported EmploymentFLSA: Non-exemptOrig. Date: January 2014Revised: September 2018JOB SUMMARYMakes initial contact with employment/education members and assists members in finding and keeping competitive employment or creating and working toward educational goals by utilizing the Individual Placement and Support model. Works closely with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) to oversee billing for employment clients with VR, Behavioral Health Organizations, and other funding sources, maintaining database for education/employment and generates statistics accordingly, and other employment/education duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMeets with members regarding employment: A.Functions as the initial contact with members being referred for Employment Services only. Provides initial paperwork, develops goals, assists with a resume, and assists the member with job placement. B.Works with other members, as appropriate, in completing initial paperwork for employment and providing resume assistance. C.Refers members to Vocational Rehabilitation or other funding source as appropriate. D. Provides employment groups as needed. E. Provides support groups for working members as needed.Develop educational program for participants:Develop educational placements for participants in the programAssist participants in receiving GED and or High School Diploma if needed. Refers members to classes that will assist participant in preparing for GED, ACT and or SAT. Assist Residents in applying for programs that will further educationProvide tutors to those individuals in school or preparing for GED, ACT and or SATIdentifies funding sources for employment members and works closely with the Finance Department to ensure that appropriate billings are made: A.Reviews all members being served by employment and determines appropriate funding source (Vocational Rehab, Behavioral Health Organization BHO, etc.). B.Provides the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation with the appropriate invoices for services rendered. C.Works with any other funding source to meet their requirements and works with the Finance Department to bill as necessary. D. Follows up on all VR billings and ensures that payments are made.Works closely with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation: A. Is knowledgeable about all Letters of Agreement with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and ensures that all contractual requirements with VR are being met. B. Meets with the VR counselor at each funding level for Supported Employment members. pletes all reports required by VR for each member. D. Makes referrals to VR submitting all required documentation. E. Submits A&I’s as appropriate (invoices) to VR and follows up with them until they are paid. Maintains Employment/Education Database and StatisticsMaintains Employment/Educational Database and utilizes same to submit timely monthly and quarterly statistical reports to Director of Supported Employment. Ensures appropriate paperwork is being completed on members in database by reviewing database submissions and peer monitoring charts.Coordinate support services for participants:Perform Person-Centered Employment Plans and educational assessments with participants in programWork with service providers and Emerging Adult Program staff to provide appropriate support services.Coordinate transportation for participants in programWill transport participants to and from employment placementsWill assist participants with obtaining appropriate identification to work such as (state ID or driver’s license, birth certificates, bus cards and ids). Continue to provide ongoing-support services in order that participants can continue to achieve self-sufficiency.Works closely with other members of the employment team as well as the Emerging Adult team and with the other programs at Park Center: A. Follows the IPS (Individual Placement and Support) method of delivering services. B. Attends regular employment meetings, weekly, monthly and other. C. Assists employment dinners and other employment activities. D. Attends clubhouse staff meetings, if needed. E. Is available to answer questions regarding employment to Park Center staff. F. Helps coordinate with other programs (Housing, Transitional Youth) within Park Center offering employment, ensuring all members being employed are maintained in database as appropriate. G. Assists with telephone follow-ups of working members, and other Employment/Education Only members. H. Maintains contact with employers via telephone regularly, as appropriate, to maintain effective employer relations. I. Meets monthly with the Emerging Adult Director for supervision and attends weekly staffing. J.Meets monthly with Employment Director for Job Development, Field Mentoring and/or Supervision. Values cultural competence and diversity A. Collaborates with staff, members, and the community to gain the perspectives of others having diverse opinions, abilities, values, beliefs, perspectives, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds. B.Takes deliberate steps to increase own cultural competency by attending trainings, events, discussions, workshops, etc. Other Duties as an employee of Park Center Attends weekly staff and supervision meetings Assists with overall program events Participates in on – call rotation Has good attendance in the program and informs supervisor in advance of leave or other time off. Follows all agency polices Develop appropriate working relationships with other mental health, social services and rehabilitation agencies.Work as a team player with other staff.
