CAMBRIDGE AICE DIPLOMA APPLICATION & INFORMATION - SPRING 2018Cambridge juniors or seniors who are eligible to complete seven AICE credits this spring across the three subject groups and including Global Perspectives, may apply for the Cambridge AICE Diploma now. See the Diploma Tracker on the back of this page. Clearly indicate the courses for which you have already received credit, and the courses in which you will test this spring.SHOULD I APPLY FOR THE CAMBRIDGE AICE DIPLOMA? A few considerations:The AICE Diploma is an elite award. Only 19 Overton students have earned this prestigious recognition. It may be an excellent addition to your resume for college and can help you stand out and get noticed by colleges. The AICE Diploma is a great reward and recognition for the hard work you have done. There are three levels of the diploma based on your performance on your exams – AICE Diploma, AICE Diploma with Merit, and AICE Diploma with Distinction. If you do not earn the diploma or you do not apply for it, students will still receive certificates and recognition for each exam that they do pass. The AICE Diploma is not a requirement for a MNPS Diploma with Distinction.Even if you do not apply to receive the AICE Diploma but you earn the credits, it is perfectly legitimate to put on a college application that you have earned the credits to make you eligible for the AICE Diploma.Different colleges will view the diploma differently. They are generally concerned about the individual courses you take and the credits that you earn more than if you actually received the diploma. More elite colleges tend to want to see candidates with the diploma. The diploma and its three levels are potential ways to make you stand out as an applicant. The fee to apply for the diploma is $110.57. This is non-refundable whether you pass your exams or not. Juniors who do not pass their exams to complete the requirements for the diploma in May 2018, can re-test and re-apply for the diploma in the spring of 2019 for additional fees. Juniors who do not apply for the diploma this year may still apply for it next year, if they are still taking AICE courses in ’18-‘19. However, results will not be available until the following August. If you qualify and would like to apply for the AICE Diploma this spring, you must return this form to Mr. Trotter by Friday, February 9, 2018 and pay the $110.57 fee by check or by online payment at . Feel free to email james.trotter@ with any questions.I meet the requirements for the Cambridge AICE Diploma, and I wish to apply for it. I understand that this costs $110.57 and that I must return this form to Mr. Trotter and pay the fee to be eligible. Receiving the actual diploma is dependent on me passing enough of my AICE exams in May to have the required seven total credits.Student Name: _____________________________________________ Parent Signature: ______________________________________________ Date: ______________________40084742126500AICE DIPLOMA TRACKER FOR 2017 & BEYONDNotes: _______________________________________Student Name: ______________________________________________________________________________________Candidate Number: ______ ______ ______ ___________________________________________________Minimum 7 credits with at least one exam from Group 1, 2, and 3 + Global PerspectivesGroup 1Math & SciencesGroup 2LanguagesGroup 3Arts & HumanitiesGroup 4InterdisciplinaryCourseGradeDate of Series(Spring ’16, ’17, or ’18)CourseGradeDate of Series(Spring ’16, ’17, or ’18)CourseGradeDate of Series(Spring ’16, ’17, or ’18)CourseGradeDate of Series(Spring ’16, ’17, or ’18)Environmental Management ASEnglish Language ASEnglish Literature ASGeneral Paper ASMarine Science ASSpanish** ASMusic ASThinking Skills ASMath ASPsychology* ASCore RequirementGlobal Perspectives & ResearchPsychology* ASUS History ASCourseGradeDate of Series’16, ’17, ‘18US History AGlobal Perspectives & Research ASYear of Graduation: ___________________________________________________________________AICE Diploma Planning Guide*Psychology may be used to meet the requirement for Group 1 or Group 3, but not both categories.**Additional AICE courses including PE, Sociology, Spanish, French, and A-level English Language will be offered in the coming years dependent upon student interest. ................
