Accessing ArcMap (or Matlab) Online using MyApps

Accessing ArcMap (or Matlab) Online using MyApps.

Go to or go to MyASU and click on MyApps on the left. Navigate to GLG590 ArcMap using alphabetical listing (or Search on GLG 590).

NOTE: This version of ArcMap will allow you to “see” the instructor volume where all class data will be stored. If you want to run locally on your laptop, use SSH to general.asu.edu to grab the data (see to download SSH and Access an Instructor Volume (scroll down to Using SFTP Method) for info on connecting to the data volume).

Instructions to install the client software and run online applications can be found at:

.

A shorthand version for PCs starts from the MyApps page shown below where I have Navigated to GLG590 ArcMap in the alphabetical list:

Click Continue – the ONLY way to work efficienty is to save all your data to the M Drive (every student by default has 4GB space on the M drive, which will be plenty). Note you can access you M: drive via MyASU/My Files – to move files to and from the M: drive and any local computer. After you click Continue, the dialog below appears:

Just Click OK and ArcMap will launch. ArcMap is running on the application server, just using your computer as a video terminal. All will run fast and efficient if you use the M drive for saving all your data.

IF a dialog box appears asking to choose a level of access just choose Full Access:
