Instructions for all office versions prior to Office 2007.

Overview: This game is designed for whole class participation. Participants are divided into teams or may work as individuals. Each team or student gets a question, if they get it right they are allowed to choose one box on the board. Once that box is clicked it will disappear revealing what was beneath it. If there is a treasure under it then they win. For best results use an LCD projector or TV to display the game to students.

Game Requirements: Game requires computer running Microsoft Windows XP or higher with Microsoft Office 2003 or above. Macintosh Computers not supported at this time.

How to Play

1. You can divide your class into teams, or you can let each individual play. There is no limit to the number of teams or individuals that can play the game.

2. Have your vocabulary, review test, or topical questions in your hand.

3. Open Sunken Treasure. Click on the “Slide Show Menu” at the top, and then choose “View Show”. This will begin your PowerPoint game.

4. If you see a Security Alert when starting the game – Choose Enable this Content.

5. Choose the board you wish to play (1-10). Try not to use one that you have used before, as students may remember where the treasure was hidden last time.

6. Ask students to select 3 boxes behind which they believe the treasure is hidden. (This will speed up the game and prevent students from taking “years” to decide which box to look behind once they have gotten a correct answer.)

7. Each team or individual is asked a question. If they answer correctly, the students can pick one box. The teacher will then click on that box. If the treasure is there, that team wins. If not, the game goes on.

8. If a team or individual finds the Treasure before you run out of questions, simply go back to the beginning of the game and choose a different board. There are 10 unique boards.

Note: If you are using a version of Microsoft Office prior to Office 2003 some of the functions in these games may not function properly. It is advised that you do your editing of the slides in the older version that you are using but use a PowerPoint viewer for actual game play. A link to the PowerPoint 2007 viewer is below:
