FORMS: Candidate's Declaration of Intention (form can be obtained from and returned to the Secretary of State’s office.)

State Nomination Petition (form can be obtained from and returned to the Secretary of State’s office.) The County Clerk determines the validity of signatures on a petition. This form is not required for candidate filing by fee.

Statement of Substantial Interest (form can be obtained from and returned to the Secretary of State’s office or to the County Clerk's Office.)

Affidavit of Exemption (form can be obtained from and returned to the Secretary of State’s office or to the County Clerk's Office.) All candidates who do not anticipate spending or receiving over $500.00 in campaign funds complete this form.

Appointment of Treasurer (form can be obtained from and returned to the Secretary of State’s office or to the County Clerk's Office.) All candidates who anticipate or who do spend or receive over $500.00 in campaign funds must complete this form.

PROCESS: Candidates for all U.S. offices must file with the Secretary of State; Candidates for all state and judicial offices may file with the Secretary of State or the County Clerk. If the County Clerk accepts the forms and fees, both shall be remitted to the Secretary of State’s office within three (3) days of filing or by the deadline whichever is less. Upon receipt of the filing the Secretary of State and/or County Clerk shall verify the filing.

No candidate shall be permitted to withdraw from candidacy after the filing deadline (June 10, 2010)

The County Clerk's Office shall forward a copy of each candidate’s forms to the Kansas Commission on Governmental Standards and Conducts.
