Wharf Pledges Support to Hong Kong Harbour Day

Hong Kong, November 7, 2007 …... From now till November 25, various business units of The Wharf (Holdings) Limited (“Wharf”) including, Harbour City, The “Star” Ferry Company, Limited and the Marco Polo Hotels are hosting a spate of activities in support of the Hong Kong Harbour Day. This biennial Hong Kong Harbour Day is scheduled to take place on November 18 to promote and celebrate Hong Kong’s iconic harbour as a national and international showpiece.

Director of Wharf Limited Mr Frankie Yick said, “The Group has been supporting activities that promote the sustainable development of the community. Wharf has pledged its support to Hong Kong Harbour Day since its inception in 2005. We are most delighted that the Group continues to support the event this year to help nurture an appreciation of the harbour as a community asset.”

On November 18, “Music by the Harbour” featuring Kassia Choirs will be staged at Harbour City, the largest shopping mall by the world-renowned Victoria Harbour. Folk songs and Christmas carols will be performed by the talented group at Ocean Terminal Forecourt, Harbour City. On the same day, the first-ever “Star Ferry Race” will take place along the Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade with the ardent support from the ferry company that has been plying across the Victoria Harbour for more than a century. Meanwhile, a “Chinese Opera Performance” by Yuet Hin Cantonese Opera Centre will be staged at the Public Viewing Deck, Pier 7, Central for public’s enjoyment.

On the gastronomic front, food and beverage outlets of Harbour City and the three Marco Polo Hotels will be presenting “Seafood Journey” from November 5 to 25. All participating restaurants will be offering a fabulous seafood menu featuring mouth-watering delicacies against the backdrop of a stunning harbour.

In addition, from November 17 to 18, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel will present a special Harbour Day Room Package to mark the meaningful event. The package features one-night deluxe accommodation (maximum triple occupancy) in a harbour-view room plus a host of complimentary benefits including round-trip door-to-door limousine service, in-room seafood dinner for two, American breakfast for two and more.

What’s more? To add to the festive fun, specially-designed Harbour Day Colouring Sheets will be distributed to kids patronising any participating restaurants as well as during the “One Tonne Challenge Carnival” to be held in Central Star Ferry Pier.
