Welcome to LR10-Steps for Success

DAY ONE: LOG IN IMMEDIATELY (Directions below).

Any students who have not logged in to LR10 will be dropped from LR10 and ENG1. Failure to log in to LR10 on time could mean losing your spot in English 001 to someone on the wait list.

FIRST WEEK:

Read Syllabus, Complete Class Contract/Syllabus Quiz, Complete Student Introduction (Required to hold your place in LR10 and English 001).

THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER:

• Check and read emails from your instructor. Do it often. Make sure you are getting the info that I send out to you, once I send it I assume you have read it.

• Visit the library to get face-to-face help. There are librarians at all three SCC campuses. Check the Library website for hours. You are not alone in the online universe, you can get help in person, from a Librarian. (You can also use the chat box on the library homepage to talk to a librarian online.)

• Alert your instructor to problems before or as they are happening. (Life happens and technology fails-however telling your instructor a week after the fact won’t fly).

• Manage your time. Online coursework can easily be forgotten. Keep an outside calendar of what is due when.

• Read lectures before attempting quizzes. Take notes.

• Don’t skip the easy points. (Class contract quiz, SOT quiz, student introduction etc.) These are the points that can really help you when you don’t do well on a quiz.

• Read lectures before attempting quizzes. Take notes. Print the lectures if that helps. Seriously.

• Complete your final project as assigned. Get help.

• Ask for help when you need it.

Last Notes:

• The coursework for LR10 is all online and is available and open 24 hours a day. Many students are able to complete the course without extra help. However, if you need it, we encourage you to work with a librarian face-to-face in the Library.

• LR10 is a 1 unit, for credit (graded) course. Your final grade in LR10 will appear on your transcripts and will affect your GPA. Your LR10 grade is separate from your English 001 grade.

• You are required to take this course with your English 001 course. If you drop LR10 you will be dropped from English 001. Attendance in LR10 is based on logging in and doing work.
