Expressive Drawing and Painting for kids

[pic][pic][pic]

In this fun and creative approach to painting and drawing, young artists will develop their artistic skills while having fun exploring different movements of art and techniques.

Working from still life, images from art history and independent themes and ideas, students will be introduced to expressive drawing and painting fundamentals and techniques. These include line drawing, value, shape, pattern, texture, shading, highlighting, color perspective and collage.

Every week we will explore a different artist or style of art. It may be Henry Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, or cubism, abstraction, or post-impressionism. The students will be the gauge. Encouragement will be given to students look at what elements are important in the work, and then to try it themselves. Mediums we will work in will be acrylic paint, markers, soft/oil pastels, paper, and canvas board.
