NASCAR'S MAJORITY OWNERS EXPLORE SALE

The majority owners of NASCAR, the Daytona Beach company which operates the namesake U.S. car-racing series, are exploring options that include the sale of a majority stake. The move comes as NASCAR grapples with an aging fan base, stricter safety rules and a competitive media landscape that have weighed on its popularity and made it less attractive to advertisers and sponsors.

While Reuters' report in early May was the first to specifically name the company ? Goldman Sachs ? with whom NASCAR was reportedly working to gauge interest in a sale, a local TV station in Charlotte, N.C., first raised the prospect of a sale in January during the annual Media Tour.

In its report, "Could NASCAR be in play for a new owner?," WBTV Charlotte spoke with former Charlotte Motor Speedway executive H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler about rumors of a possible sale and he actually brought up the prospect there could be those on "Wall Street" that may be interested for the right price.

in June and complete the project before the end of September.

Final drawings for a second pit road have been submitted and approved by FIA for next year's World Endurance

EMBRAER ELECTRIC TAXI CAB: LIKE UBER FOR THE SKIES

Meet The Battery Guru Who Will Help Keep Uber's Sky Taxis Flying

Having gotten Teslas to a 300-mile range, Celina Mikolajczak now must push Uber's electric air taxis to 60 miles of flight and 15-minute recharges.

Celina Mikolajczak, Uber's new head of energy storage systems, embodies the same attributes she desires in her products: cool and calm, but packing a lot of power.

In January, she left Tesla to head up battery development for Uber Elevate, the ride-sharing company's audacious program to launch an affordable electric sky taxi program by 2023.

If and when the skies turn into something similar to "The Jetsons," Embraer's facilities in Melbourne could be a key player.

In fact, it already is to some extent. Last week, Embraer X, an Embraer offshoot based at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport, unveiled concept images of its first electrical Vertical Take-Off and Landing, or eVTOL aircraft. The unveiling took place at Uber's Elevate 2018 in Los Angeles, a conference where a number of aviation manufacturers, entrepreneurs and others presented cutting-edge ideas for the future of urban air travel. Think Uber taxi-cabs for the skies. Embraer X is involved in numerous projects, including the development of eVTOL concepts, with Uber and other companies to explore opportunities within the Uber Elevate ecosystem. While much of the concept work for the future aircraft took place in Melbourne, it's a little too early to say that if Embraer's eVTOL were to come to fruition it would be built on the Space Coast.
