Set in the Hamilton UWS campus where the player will navigate through a first person environment.Audio-visual Style The game is a zombie RPG game with a bit of a comical twist. The playable area set in and around the university campus will be designed following a light resemblance to the campus building. We have taken inspiration from such media as The Walking Dead, Resident Evil franchise, Silent Hill, Dead Rising and many others. However, the story and gameplay of these titles, while they inspired us in our ideas. The game will be directly inverted from these titles is such that they player will play from the zombies view point in trying to turn the non-zombie players into their kind in order to complete the objectives.Sounds added to the game will help to offer the player an additional atmosphere to the playable experience alongside the dialogue and gameplay. We aim to supply correct musical atmosphere to each scenario, such as slow moving music for casual game play changing to a faster pace for intense moments. Character Main Character - Ali Ali is a 22year old third year student at the University of the West of Scotland Hamilton campus. Ali is a Networking student with a bad attitude. Waking up outside the bus stop at the main entrance one morning, Ali feels very peculiar and is soon to realize that he has more than just a hangover from his antics the night before. . He is in the early stages of becoming a zombie and has no clue of who has bitten him. Sub-Characters Laura is a 26 year old third year student also, studying Information Technology. She be-friended Ali when they both started University three years ago. Laura felt sorry for Ali as, due to his bad attitude, was lacking in friends and she had the type of personality that could cope with Ali's foul personality. One morning Laura gets off the bus at 8.55am, running late as usual to find Ali waiting for her at the main entrance. As she approaches him, she notices that he looks dreadful and is swaying slightly. Thinking that he must be unwell or hangover she greets him with a big smile. Ali staggers towards her and opens his arms to embrace her in a hug as she thinks. Ali suddenly grabs her and bites her throat. Laura then becomes a zombie and follows Ali on his quest to defeat the evil humans.Gerry is a head lecturer of the Computing Department at the University. He is the main Boss who Ali has to defeat at the end of the game in order to complete it successfully. Gerry has to be turned into a zombie in order to be defeated. Generic Students and Zombies Non interactive characters that appear periodically placed throughout the campus. The generic students can be bitten and turned into zombies to gain health. The generic students pose as a threat to the main character, until they are bitten. Story SynopsisThe game is focused around a zombie apocalypse in the Hamilton UWS campus. Evil Resident: The Student Edition the player will navigate around the map avoiding enemy mobs and achieving specific goals and defeating mini bosses (lecturers), with an end goal of defeating the head lecturer in order to complete the game and gain an A+. The playable character will be Ali, a student of the university, which has been turned into a zombie in the recent apocalypse. Game Intro (tutorial)The game will start off with a tutorial where the players have to infect another student and in doing so will show how the player’s moves and abilities work. The tutorial will finish once the player has successfully turned one other student proving that they understand the functionality of the character. The final task of the tutorial will be to turn another student (Laura) into a zombie to join in on the zombie apocalypse.GameplayOverviewThe game Evil Resident: Student Edition is a third person RPG. It is set in the University of the West of Scotland's Hamilton campus where the main character can navigate their way through the halls and classrooms in a third person view. The main objectives of the game after finishing with the initial tutorial is to find and help other students by completing mini-mission like quests in order to strengthen your character in order to progress and turn more experienced students and faculty into fellow zombies.Increasing DifficultyThe game will aim to have different levels of difficulty in its final version to allow the player to further more challenge themselves by either selecting 'Easy' for the beginners, 'Medium' for more casual players and 'Hard' for the harder more elite payers out there. Actions and movementAs Evil Resident is a third person game, they player will move around the area with an angled top view of their character. Depending on which platform used, which will most likely be PC based the player will navigate the character with use of the arrow or WASD keys. And other hotkeys will be used to use abilities and other items.Upgrade The further your character progresses and levels up, the more options will be available to optimize your character. The initial moves learned in the tutorial will be available to upgrade to do more damage and further range etc. Other moves and abilities will be able to be unlocked when other moves have reached specific points in the game. Technical Implementation This game will be design for PC stand-alone. The following game will require the following specifications to run:Windows: XP SP2 or later. Note that Unity was not tested on server versions of Windows.Graphics card with DirectX 9 level (shader model 2.0) capabilities. Any card made since 2004 should work.Using Occlusion Culling requires GPU with Occlusion Query support (some Intel GPUs do not support that).1 GB of RAM.This game will be created using Unity, which is a free supported game engine with the ability to be exported to PC stand-alone. Unity also allows the user to export to Android, MAC OS, iOS and web player (including HTML5). Unity can use many programming languages such as JavaScript or C#. ................
