Cardiothoracic imaging rotation goals and responsibilitiesThe cardiac imaging rotation encompasses all facets of cardiothoracic radiography, CT and MRI. The primary goal of this rotation is recognize cardiac pathology manifestations in all modalities with a focus on cardiac CT (CCTA) and cardiac MRI (CMRI). The curriculum will be divided as follows:Week 1: Coronary arteriesWeek 2: Beyond the coronary arteries: Valves, pericardium and massesWeek 3: Basics of CMRI and late gadolinium enhancementWeek 4: Aorta (CT and MRI)By the end of this rotation, residents should be able to Recognize imaging manifestations of cardiovascular pathology across modalities Identify the most common appropriate indications for CCTA and CMRIUnderstand the fundamental technical aspects involved in CCTA acquisitionIndependently interpret cardiac CTA with basic knowledge of post processing techniquesUnderstand basic cardiac imaging planes and how to acquire themRecognize basic CMRI pulse sequences and how they are usedUnderstand the patterns of late gadolinium enhancementRotation duration is Monday-Friday from 8 am until 5 pm. Contact the cardiac attending the day on radres before to schedule location and time of read out.Goals and reponsibilitiesDescriptionProtocolsAll cardiac exams on chest CT and MR Cardiothoracic lists should be protocoled each dayImage acquisitionMake sure all CT and MR techs make you the first call for any cardiac imaging related issuesConsult with nursing/tech staff prior to CCTA for patient premedication/protocols as needed.
