|Nursing 498 Internship in Professional Nursing. Clinical Instructor: This course provides the students with a concentrated clinical|

|experience designed to synthesize nursing knowledge and evidence-based practice.  Students will refine leadership and management |

|skills as they function as integral members of the health care team. Under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse |

|pharmacotherapeutics, safe administration of medications, and medications related to the care of patients with specific disorders. |

|Pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics, principles of medication administration, medication terminology, systems of |

|measurement and conversion, and medication calculations are discussed. Drug classifications, actions, side effects, adverse |

|effects, and nursing implications of medication administration are presented.   Use of the nursing process to safely administer |

|Nursing 622: Clinical Pharmacology for Advanced Practice Nurses Course Instructor: This course is designed to provide the advanced|

|practice nursing student with knowledge of pharmacological agents and herbal therapies used in the treatment of adults, |

|adolescents, and young children. Emphasis is placed on indications, mechanisms of actions, prescriptive drug protocols, adverse |

|reactions, and appropriate dosages. Through the use of a variety of instructional methods, this course prepares students to design,|

|implement, monitor, and alter effective patient pharmacological therapy. |

|health/illness status of children, adults, and elders within a family framework. Emphasis in this course is placed upon health |

|management. This course emphasizes role development, including interdependent and independent practices.  |

|Nursing 655 Primary Care Nursing of Families II Clinical Instructor: This course focuses on continued expansion of clinical |

|management of children, adults, and elders within a family framework. This course includes theoretical concepts related to the |

|management of families with acute or chronic health care crises. The clinical focus is on the role of the nurse practitioner in |

|primary care management including health promotion, illness prevention, assessment, treatments for acute and chronic illnesses, and|

|and physical status of children, adults, and elders. Emphasis is on clinical assessment, diagnosis, and the formulation of a |

|selected preceptors. |

|Nursing 677 Advanced Nursing Care of the Pediatric Patient Course Coordinator and Clinical Instructor: This course focuses on the |

|assessment, diagnosis, and collaborative management of pediatric patients with acute illness or experiencing an exacerbation of a |

|chronic health problem. The clinical focus is on the role of the advanced practice nurse to facilitate and accelerate the patient’s|

|return to optimal health. |

|Nursing 452 Nursing of Critically Ill Children and Adults Course Coordinator and Clinical Instructor: This course focuses on the |

|care of the client with health states characterized by acute dysfunction or pattern disruption, high problem complexity, and low |

|outcome predictability. Client and family situations which are rapidly changing and crisis oriented are managed through application|

|of the nursing process and critical pathways. Utilizing case studies, the interrelationships among pathophysiology, human |

|functional health patterns, and related theories are stressed. Students provide direct care to the adult client in selected |

|critical care settings, with supervision and direction from faculty and registered nurse Clinical Teaching Associates. |

|Nursing 488 Nursing Management in the Care of Adults Clinical Instructor: This course involves the application and synthesis of |

|nursing knowledge within the broader context of the professional role. Care of patients with complex and multidimensional health |

|problems is emphasized. A case study approach will be utilized to facilitate group and individual analysis in caring for varied |

|patients and populations. The role of nurse case manager will be explored. Students will analyze the concept of nursing leadership |

|within various healthcare scenarios and settings to discern the impact of professional nursing on patient outcomes and quality of |

|care. Functions and roles of leadership and management in professional nursing will be explored including organizational theories, |

|decision-making, systems of care delivery, change theories, theories of leadership and management, power, legal/ethical issues, |

|delegation, quality improvement, and resource management. |

|Nursing 246 Introduction to Professional Nursing Course Coordinator and Clinical Instructor: This course introduces students to |

|essential characteristics of professional nursing practice in today’s health care system and the interconnected global community. |

|Concepts to be explored include the history and theoretical basis of the nursing profession, the profession as part of a wider |

|health care community and delivery system, professional communication, self-understanding and self-care as means to promote health |

|and wellness of self and others. An introduction to the responsibility of self-directed, life-long learning and evidence based |

|practice is included. An emphasis will be placed on the complexity and holism of culturally sensitive nursing care in relation to |

|the diversity of patients. |

|Nursing 247 Health Assessment Clinical Instructor: This course focuses on beginning skill development in the psychosocial and |

|physical assessment of the health status of individuals across the lifespan. Emphasis is on the collection of subjective and |

|objective data, common diagnostic studies, physical exams and documentation. Lecture, lab and clinical activities will be utilized|

|throughout the course. |

|Nursing 358 Nursing Care of Adults I Clinical Instructor: This course focuses on the application of the nursing process and further|

|develops cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills necessary to provide nursing care for adults within a legal, ethical, and |

|culturally sensitive framework. Students will integrate concepts from the sciences, liberal arts and nursing theory as a basis for|

|their nursing practice. Evidence-based practice will be the foundation for providing care to patients on the continuum of illness |

|and wellness. |

|Nursing 357 Introduction to Patient Care Clinical Instructor: This course explores concepts essential to nursing practice with a |

|focus on nursing interventions. An emphasis is placed on the development of knowledge, competence, communication, and caring with |
