|JOB SUMMARY |

The Regional Career Coordinator supports the South Central WorkForce Council in the development and implementation of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) regional plan for the nine-county area of South Central Minnesota and coordinates with staff from the 14-county area of SW MN.

|10% |1. Collaborate with area high schools to strengthen partnerships between workforce professionals and educators in order to increase youth |

| |awareness of in-demand career options in the region and provide career exploration opportunities. |

|10% |2. Promote connections with education, workforce development, and businesses for career exploration and work-based learning opportunities.|

|10% |3. Participate in the development and implementation of career events for high school students including career expos, Construct Tomorrow,|

| |Scrubs Camp, Tour of Manufacturing, etc. |

|10% |4. Collaborate with all partners to increase awareness among youth and adults of the good paying job opportunities in the region and the |

| |career pathways to attain the skills necessary to compete for in-demand jobs that meet the needs of our regional businesses for a skilled |

| |workforce. Develop and distribute customer-friendly local labor market information that promotes demand industries and occupations in |

| |collaboration with the Assistant Director and Southwest MN Private Industry Council. |

|15% |5. Assist with the development and implementation of the WIOA Regional Plan. |

|5% |6. Assist with marketing efforts to promote the Council, services/programs and labor market information – including social media. |

|10% |7. Develop reports for MN DEED, legislators, South Central WorkForce Council and its committees. |

|15% |8. Support the Assistant Director in administering workforce development programs and initiatives for youth in South Central Minnesota. |

| |With Executive Director and Assistant Director, staff board and committee meetings. Assist with taking meeting minutes. Other duties as |

| |assigned by the Executive Director or Assistance Director. |

|10% |9. Coordinate with all partners to enhance alignment and assure non-duplication of services, including career pathways, career education,|

| |and out-reach to schools services that already exist in the region. |

|5% |10. Work with other rural career counseling coordinators in the State and regional stakeholders to ensure overall coordination, as well as|

| |to develop and share best practices throughout the region and the state and bring them to scale. |

|SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: |

The Regional Career Coordinator is accountable to the Executive Director, Assistant Director and the South Central WorkForce Council.

|MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |

1. Education

▪ Required: A high school diploma and a combination of post-secondary education and/or related experience.

▪ Desired: Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience in related field.

2. Experience

▪ Experience in workforce development or related field.

3. Other required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

▪ Ability to develop and strengthen connections between stakeholders including educators, employers, legislators, Workforce Center partners, etc.

▪ Familiar with education and workforce development systems in the region including career pathways, adult basic education programs, post-secondary education, K-12, and Workforce Center partners.

▪ Understanding of workforce needs of industry.

▪ Ability to work with boards and teams

▪ Good oral and written communication skills

▪ Ability to assume responsibility and be self-directing.

▪ Good organizational skills.

▪ Good interpersonal skills.

▪ Personal computer, telephone, copier

▪ Microsoft Office Software, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher

▪ Knowledge of WorkForce One helpful.
