What skills will you develop during the course of your Senior Project?Throughout my project I will be learning how to fully restore a 1980 Honda motorcycle. The bike is not currently in working condition, so I will be taking the bike completely apart to find the suspected problems. This will require rebuilding the carburetors, re-wiring, cleaning the engine and checking the compression of the cylinders, inspecting the frame and completely changing the style of the bike. My budget will be 1,000 to 1,500 dollars which is being taken care of by my parents. After troubleshooting and making necessary technical repairs to the bike, I will the start the restoration process of the exterior facade. 2. How will you use these skills in the future? You must explain how these skills will serve you in a future career and/or endeavor.I have always had an interest in motorcycles and cars. It has always been one of the top projects I would like to accomplish. I plan on using the skills I learn about restoration in the future to restore many more motorcycles, whether they are street bikes or dirt-bikes. I also would like to restore old cars when I am older to begin a collection and some to resell. This first restoration will be a huge endeavor, but will be the spring-board to future projects.3. What will be the end result of the application of the skills you acquire? (Name your product in the first sentence of your response.) Will you produce a tangible product, such as a piece of furniture or a set of blueprints? Will you use your skills to produce an intangible product, such as an event, a performance, a certification, a donation (include the name of the charity), service to the community, or a combination of these? The end result of my project will be a fully restored 1980 Honda Cb750 Café Racer motorcycle. The skills I acquire will help me to hopefully continue my dream of restoring more motorized vehicles. 4. Why have you chosen this product?I love motorcycles and have always had interests in rebuilding engines or rebuilding styles of bikes. I have always wished I could produce a bike that would match the crossover of a cruiser type motorcycle and a sport style motorcycle. This type of bike is the perfect opportunity to make my vision come true. 5. What previous experience or prior knowledge do you have that relates to your Senior Project? My dad had a motorcycle, and I would help him work on his bike when needed. Whether it was just tuning it up or completely fixing something. I also used to race Nitro-Trucks. Although these were small remote control vehicles, they were assembled with very intricate parts. I used to fix the engine and perform tune-ups to have it at peak performance. That experience will assist me in this challenge.6. How will you acquire the skills necessary to produce your product? Choose one of the following prompts.A. Will you take classes or lessons to develop these skills? If so, include when and where you will take the classes or lessons along with the cost of the classesand lessons and how you will pay for them. How often will you need to studyor practice outside of the classes or lessons?B. Will your project facilitator meet with you on a regular basis to help you develop these skills? What activities will you do with your project facilitator, and whatactivities will you do on your own? When, where, and how often will you meetwith your project facilitator?I will seek my facilitator’s expertise to get some tips and help when I come upon an obstacle I can’t figure out on my own. I will disassemble the bike on my own and list re-usable parts on eBay to possibly help offset new-part costs. I will research online mechanical issues and replacement parts. I will either meet my facilitator in my garage at my house or at his business located on East Cherokee Drive. I plan on meeting with him weekly for guidance and to show him my progress.7. Who is your project facilitator? What education and/or experience does he or she have that will help you acquire the skills you intend to develop through your Senior Project? (If you are taking classes or lessons, the instructor will be your project facilitator.)My project facilitator is Mike Free. Mike owns CARS- 2449 E Cherokee Drive, Woodstock GA, which is a Complete Automotive Restoration Service. He has experience with painting, fabrication, motors, interiors, window tinting and even audio. All of those skills will be great assets that will help me complete my motorcycle. ................
