COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an interactive webinar designed for physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers who are involved in the care of patients with tuberculosis and /or elderly patients. It is intended to bring awareness to the difficulties in diagnosing and treating tuberculosis in the elderly.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians, nurses, and health care workers who are involved in the management and care of patients with tuberculosis in elderly patients.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the web seminar the participants will be able to:
- Explain the difference between tuberculosis presentation in the elderly and other populations.
- Explain the necessity for utilizing the two-step method when screening for tuberculosis infection in elderly patients.
- Discuss common adverse reactions to TB treatment in the elderly and strategies for management.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
There is a $10 charge for continuing education credit.
UMDNJ–Center for Continuing and Outreach Education (CCOE) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (CME)to provide continuing education for physicians.
UMDNJ–CCOE designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Center for Continuing and Outreach Education is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by NJSNA, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
This activity is awarded 1.5 contact hours. (60 minute CH)

University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Center for Continuing and Outreach Education (UMDNJ-CCOE) certifies that this continuing education activity meets the criteria for 0.15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as defined by the National Task Force on the Continuing Education unit, provided the activity is completed as designed.
