Morgan Park High School

PreCalculus

1744 West Pryor Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60643

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for entrusting your child’s education to the MPHS staff. I am Mrs. Sara Michelle Harton and I am pleased and excited to be teaching your child this year. The following information describes what your child will be taught, what is expected, classroom rules, class procedures and an explanation of my grading policy. Also included is the Course Syllabus which details what we will be studying this year (and when), required materials, and grading policies. Please pay special attention to the rules regarding homework and absences.

Math learning is sequential, meaning that the skills needed to succeed in the end begin with the ones learned in the very beginning. This sequential nature is especially the case for PreCalculus. I cannot stress enough the importance of your child being in class daily and attending to the tasks we are working on in class and for homework. For students who need additional help tutoring is available and I have office hours after school. Once a student gets behind in their studies it is very difficult to catch up.

COURSE TITLE – PreCalculus

Teacher Credentials

I have two degrees in Electrical Engineering; a Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and a Master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I am currently working on my Masters in Education at Northwestern University.
