CASH HANDLING & STORE KEY POLICY

CASH HANDLING & STORE KEY POLICY

To: Supervisors, Managers, Assistants and Shift Leaders

From: Bo Davidson

1) There will be three (3) trips to the bank each day.

a) Management will go to the bank by 10:30 a.m.

Take the last deposit from the night before and pick

up validated slips from the day before.

b) Management will go to the bank between 4:00 and

5:00 p.m. to make the day shift deposit (Do not put it in the safe or the night drop.) Have the deposit worked and bring validated slip back to the store.

c) Management will skim all registers at 7:00 p.m.,

removing as much cash as possible. Make a deposit and take it to the night drop at the bank.

When at all possible have two people go to the bank for safety, and have two people verify the drop was done. The final deposit is left in the safe.

2) All drawers are to be skimmed each hour to remove

excess cash from drawers. This is to be verified and signed by the cashier on that drawer and the manager.

3) All money in the store is to be locked in the safe.

No money will be kept unlocked for “easy access for

change. When counting drawers at closing and shift

change make sure each drawer has adequate change,

ones, fives, and tens. This will limit trips to safe.

4) Supervisors will periodically verify that all deposits are at the store and correctly validated.

5) Supervisors will ask you occasionally to open your safe

and make sure that your change fund is correct. You should be counting your safe a minimum of 3 times per day and/or any time you have a management change.

6) No personal checks are to be held in the safe. You can not put a personal check in the safe to be held till you can deposit it. We are not allowed to cash personal checks in the store. If you are counting your safe and find that someone has a personal check in there then you are to notify a supervisor right away.

7) At no time are you allowed to hold an I.O.U. in the safe for yourself or an employee. If you one in the safe then again it is your responsibility to notify a supervisor.

8) If you witness someone stealing from us it is your responsibility to make a supervisor aware of this further action.

9) Cashier’s are responsible for their own cash drawers. Each cashier is to count their own drawer prior to taking control of it. NO ONE ELSE IS TO WORK THAT CASH DRAWER (not even a manager.) That cashier is solely responsible for the cash in their own drawer and will have it counted and balanced prior to leaving at the end of the shift. When doing a drawer skim the cashier is to be there and will count and sign the skim slip along with the manager. If the drawer is more than $2.00 off they will be written up. If shortages or overages continue they can be moved to another job or possibly terminated. Cashier’s are to be held responsible for cash shortages in their own cash drawers and that is why it is important that these procedures are followed so we can hold them accountable.

Failure to follow cash handling procedures will result in a disciplinary notice with only one warning and possible prosecution by law enforcement

Failure to follow cash handling procedures resulting in loss of cash will be your responsibility to repay loss and may result in termination.

I have read and understand the Cash Handling Policy for this company and agree to do so daily. If for any reason I am unable to do this or see any other manager not following these procedures I will make upper management aware of the problems.

Store Keys

Once you are issued a set of keys for your KFC store, you are then responsible for them. They will only be in your possession. Do not attach your store keys with your personal keys. Do not leave them laying around the store or anywhere else that someone can pick them up. These keys are your responsibility to keep secure.

If for some reason your keys become lost or stolen you will be responsible to replace them. This could also include the cost of changing the door locks at the store.

If for any reason you decide to resign from your position you are required to return the store keys immediately. This does not mean the next day but immediately. The same policy is there is you are terminated. If you fail to do so the cost to change the locks and replace the keys will be taken out of your final check.
