POSITION: GIFT SHOP CASHIER LICENSE: Yes

(Part Time)

DEPARTMENT: Gift Shop GRADE: 10 ($9.45-14.03)

REPORTS TO: Gift Shop Lead/Retail Manager STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Retail Manager and Gift Shop Lead, the Gift Shop Cashier welcomes all guests in a friendly and courteous manner, as well as performs all cash and sale transactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide fast and courteous service to all guests of the establishment.

2. Collects payment from customers.

3. Ensures that all shelves and cooler are stocked fully and products are organized.

4. Ensures proper use of the computerized register and other equipment.

5. Maintains a neat and clean appearance.

6. Maintains a clean and safe work area.

7. Ensures that all paperwork at the end of shift is balanced and in order.

8. Handles some customer complaints and incidents in the facility in a helpful, courteous, and constructive manner.

9. Communicate all issues and suggestions to the Manager and Gift Shop Lead.

10. Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of this position’s essential functions.

11. Must attend all mandatory trainings designated by the Human Resources Department and/or Department Directing, including Customer Hero Service and Title 31.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit with occasional walking and standing. Occasionally the employee must bend, squat, climb, crouch, kneel, and push/pull. The employee is occasionally required to use hands for firm manipulation and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds while frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to dust.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

2. Must be 18 years or older.

3. One to three months’ retail or cash handling experience and/or training required.

4. Must have general knowledge of computers, prior use of POS system desired.

5. Must be able to obtain a gaming license through the Bay Mills Gaming Commission and maintain eligibility throughout employment.

6. Will adhere to and enforce any guidelines or policies established in the Bay Mills Indian Community Personnel Policies.

7. Excellent communication skills and a friendly personality.

8. Must have an excellent past work history and attendance record.

9. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each function listed under the essential functions and physical demands categories of this position description.

PREFERENCE: Preference will be given to those of Native American descent.
