CATARACT - 1 DAY POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS

Please be aware that following your eye surgery you may experience a transient foreign body sensation and soreness for 24-48 hrs. This is normal, and you should not be concerned. Time and treatment with your ocular medications will allow your eye to heal, your discomfort to resolve, and your vision to improve. Your pupil was dilated at the time of surgery and will return to its normal size and shape within 24 hrs. Please use your eye drops as instructed. If you begin to experience any pain or vision loss following surgery, please call our office at 970-828-2200. Begin the following eye drops 4X/day for the first week.

Prednisolone (White or Pink Cap) 1 drop 4x/day to operative eye

Ofloxacin (Tan Cap) 1 drop 4x/ day to operative eye

Ketorolac (Gray Cap) 1 drop 4x/ day to operative eye

CATARACT - 1 WEEK POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS

Discontinue the following Eye Drops:

Ofloxacin (Tan Cap): 1 drop 4x/ day to operative eye

Continue

Prednisolone (White or Pink cap) Ketorolac (Gray cap)

1. Decrease to 1 drop 3x/day through week 2, then 3. Decrease to 1 drop 2x/day through week 3, then 4. Decrease to 1 drop 1x/day through week 4, then 5. Stop the eye drops after the 4th week.

If you experience new or worsening eye pain, nausea and vomiting, decreasing vision, new flashes, floaters, or vision loss please contact the clinic immediately. If your call is after normal business hours follow the prompts to reach one of our providers directly. They will return your call shortly and address your needs/concerns. If you are unable to reach one of our specialist, please go to the nearest emergency room to seek attention.

WHAT NOT TO DO AFTER YOUR SURGERY

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO DO AFTER YOUR SURGERY

1. Do NOT rub or apply pressure to the operated eye. 2. Do NOT apply makeup on or around the operated eye for one (1) week. 3. Avoid lifting any item more than forty (40) pounds for one (1) week. 4. Avoid straining or other strenuous activity for two (2) weeks. 5. Do NOT swim with your head under water for two (2) weeks. 6. Stay out of dusty environments for two (2) weeks.

1. You may use your eyes as usual in everyday activities, such as reading, watching television, or walking outdoors.

2. You may resume non-strenuous household activities. 3. You may wear sunglasses or protective dark glasses in bright light. 4. You should wear your eye shield at night or when napping for

one (1) week. 6. You may use artificial tears for comfort as needed.
