Category Manager

Job Summary: The Category Manager is responsible for all aspects relating to their assigned category, including but not limited to: procurement of products under their category, inventory management, price management, margin management, planning and execution of promotions and creation of marketing plans with key vendors. You will be the expert for your assigned product categories and will be responsible for the entire product life cycle.

Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of the product category assigned, including but not limited to: o Product selection & management o Inventory management o Price negotiation o Promotion negotiation o Vendor marketing negotiation o Vendor relationship management

Undertake category, vendor, product, industry & market analysis to determine best practices & improve efficiency

Create reports as required for presentation to senior management Conduct pricing analysis to ensure product is priced competitively at all times Work closely with other departments for executions of:

o Instore merchandising, signage and promotions o Online marketing initiatives o Training of retail staff Lead development of content for regular executive level presentations on state of the category and plan of execution to attain sales, margin and inventory targets Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to develop product, marketing, and partnership strategies Work with customers, sales teams, and services teams to identify key business use cases and drive enhancements and requirements into the product development process Act as the voice of the customer within the organization Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent Prior experience in Purchasing (buyer), Product Management or Category Management Demonstrated success in managing a Category or Product Line Strong interest & knowledge in the electronics and/or technology market Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time

management skills; ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Experience in negotiation with vendors/suppliers Proven ability to prepare marketing proposals with a blend of focused research, strategy

and creativity Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, and Adobe Products (an asset) Prior retail Purchasing/Category Management experience a plus Ability to travel or work overtime as required Lifting or moving up to 10 lbs may be required
