Vol. 11 No. 7 A publication of the CCA-San Fernando Valley District August 2014

Message From the President

Thanks to all of you who elected me to serve as your San Fernando Valley District President for the second consecutive year.

Last fiscal year was a very successful year. Our finances are in great shape. As our past treasurer used to say "All the bills are paid and we have money in the bank." We continue to show good positive growth in our CCA memberships each year. Last year we had outstanding district meetings that were well attended and we were able to provide 8 hours of Continuing Education free to all CCA members. CCA offers FREE "Right in your Backyard" CE classes but the San Fernando Valley District is able to deliver FREE Right in your front yard CE. This year starting September 10, 2014 we kick off the new fiscal year with 2 hours of Mandated CE with the Billing, Coding and Documentation  Guru, Sam Collins, of H.J. Ross. Once again this year we will be offering 8-10 hours of FREE CE right here in the middle of the San Fernando Valley at the Orange Bistro Cafe on the campus of CSUN. We offer excellent CE free to all CCA members, right here in our own neighborhood. Looking forward to a great year with the CCA-San Fernando Valley District.

Rodney L. Cummings, D.C.

If you perform athletic physicals or have been excluded from physicals, please let us know for which districts and high schools.

If in the past you were able to perform athletic physicals but now are excluded, please let us know for which districts and high schools, the loss to your business development and income and any other harm.

STOP DMV CONFUSION

Even though doctors of chiropractic have been able to perform medical examinations for all commercial drivers’ license (CDL) holders since January 1, 2014, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is still in the process of updating the related forms and letters.

That means that while the DMV accepts medical examination reports for all CDL holders performed by all providers, including doctors of chiropractic, on the National Registry in compliance with state law, the DMV is continuing to send notifications to CDL holders who need an updated medical examination report that incorrectly state the “DMV will not accept your medical report if it is signed by a chiropractor.”

CCA continues to work to mitigate this problem. If you need assistance, contact Dr. Kassie Donoghue, Governmental Affairs Director, at 916.648.2727 x130 or kdonoghue@.
