Treatment Guidelines for Health Staff: Gonococcal Infection
Administer ceftriaxone 250 mg intramuscularly once. PLUS. Azithromycin 1 g po once (preferred). OR. Doxycycline 100 mg po bid for 7 days. If ceftriaxone IM is not an option, substitute cefixime 400 mg po once, plus azithromycin or doxycycline as above, and obtain a gonococcal culture (not nucleic acid testing) in one week for test-of-cure. ................
