1. Use the ovals on the back of this sheet to represent a cross section of the plasma membrane.

2. Draw three protein channels in the membrane. Refer to the diagram at the top of this page. Color them.

3. Cut off the bottom half of this page and cut out each of the phospholipid molecules. You will need them all!!

4. Properly align and neatly glue the phospholipid molecules to your cross section to represent the phospholipid

bilayer. Do not cover up the proteins that you drew!

5. Neatly label the following:

location of water (will be labeled in two locations)

phosphate head

a phospholipid molecule

lipid tail

hydrophilic portion of phospholipid molecule

channel protein

hydrophobic portion of phospholipid molecule
