Model Criteria

In this activity you will :

| |Use a model ( or skit, story, rap, poem) to illustrate that cellular respiration is a chemical process whereby the bonds of food molecules and |

| |oxygen molecules are broken and the bonds in new compounds are formed, resulting in a net transfer of energy. |

| | |

| | |

| | |

| | |

| |Your model must include: |

| |A discussion/picture or mention of the structure of the mitochondria (inner membrane, outer membrane, cristae, matrix) and the structural |

| |importance of each. |

| |An explanation of how food (glucose molecules) are broken down. |

| |The function of oxygen in cellular respiration. |

| |Include vocabulary terms (not limited to) |

| |Krebs Cycle, Glycolysis, ETC, ATP synthase, |

| |Chemiosmosis, ATP, NADH/FADH carbohydrate (glucose) |

| |The formula for cellular respiration that includes where each component comes from. (i.e. oxygen is diffused into the blood stream, to cells and |

| |to the mitochondria each time were breath) |

| | |

| |See the rubric below to see how you will be scored. |

| | |

| |Your “model” can a skit with props, story, rap, poem or something else if approved by your teacher. |
